Topic: I'm home
Hi -

I'm back home!  Minimum pain is right now.....I'm sip sip sipping on water & tea & popcicles.

I have walked around a few times.

For those going into surgery.....Please keep in mind if you feel like you need to pass gas....RUN to the bathroom lol.   I learned that the hard way.

I hope everyone else had a good surgery!   Let me know!!! --- going to lay down now.

Wondering how you're doing.   Everyday seems to get better for me, but I still do get tired easily.  Currently able to eat 2 Tbsp. of mashed potatoe,, yogurt, grits, oatmeal, or cream of wheat, along with 4 oz. of protein shake 3 times a day.  Friday I can advance to tuna and scrambled eggs, and stop the shakes.

Congrats on your weight loss. I had surgery on 9/9/9 and I've been eating mashed potatoes and scrambled egges since I left the hospital. I even had crackers and chicken salad.  I do have a question. What brand of calcium citrate are you taking? The waffers are disgusting and so is the liquid. I'm trying to find something that I can take that doesn't make me ill.

No it's not you. I ate myself into a coma (joking). Hey it was my last hurrah, so I had to go out with a bang. It was my way of saying goodbye to my old life.

i had surgery mon the 21st.  so far so good, but i hear on the head hunger.  i think i will miss my naughty snakes for awhile, but i know this is a better way of life.  right now i am trying to deal with the pain in my gut,  can't wait to get off the liquids and start on real food (with very small portions)
keep up the good work

I had my surgery on 9/4/09 and everything is going smoothly.  I was so happy to make it to mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs last Friday.  Looking forward to even more this Friday.  Can't quite sleep on my left side yet, but I have managed to move to my left.  I am a side-sleeper so this is big news for me.

Hardest part is definitely the "Head Hunger."  I am not hungry, but this weekend was my daughter's 13th birthday and so we went out to dinner twice and I couldn't eat what I would normally - hard.  Also, went to the movies and missed the diet coke popcorn pulling up tot the theater.  (But, I survived all 3 without a hitch).  WE CAN DO THIS!

I am new to this, but if anybody fewer than 17 days has a question I would love to help out.

I appreciate voicing my experience to those who listen.

Those first few days afterwards...expect to rest a lot! You will be sore and you will think that you are hungry, but you're not. Expect your throat to hurt for atleast the first day of surgery and expect to be up and walking within just a few hours afterwards!

I am now 8 days out, 15 pounds lighter and had my first rough day yesterday. All of a sudden, I just "knew" that I was hungry and I began my old patterns of glancing through the cabinets and the fridge...knowing I wasn't actually hungry...it was just that old mindset of me wanting food that I can't have. Plus, I felt nauseous and just overall icky! I wound up just crying at one point and my husband hugging me. I think it really hit me yesterday what I have done, but not once did I say "oh I regret this". I know what eating patterns I had and what needs to be broken...but fully expect to have bad days. They are okay to have! You just have to remember that tomorrow is a new day and let the past go...

I believe you will do great! I know that I am feeling it...lol. Plus, it was so encouraging to put on a shirt this morning and to look at myself in the mirror and NOT see that protruding "pouch" over the top of my jeans! Oh sure...it's there still, but can you see it when I stand still? Nope! This is going to be a good day!

Best of luck to you my dear! I can't wait to hear how you are doing after surgery!

Your post is so encouraging! You guys are helping me so much. I am scheduled for the 28th and I have been really struggling this week. Partly because I really don't know what to expect those 1st few days after. But reading your posts I am getting excited again! Thanks and congrats on doing so well!
