1. What type surgery did you have, and why did you choose that kind? Lap RNY, I had over 100 lbs to lose, and didnt like the idea of a port in my chest, lapband just wasnt an option for me. I have had no complications. Neither surgery is something you are going to reverse anyways, and if you have to, dut to cancer, or something, the RNY CAN be reversed... 2. What is the greatest change in your life since surgery? I can get around easier, my kids are not embarrassed for me to be around them, I am no longer the " FAT MOM", they now think I am the " YOUNGER AUNT" LOL!!!!!! I don't have a sister.... 3. What was the hardest adjustment since surgery? Trying to figure out, who is in the mirror, and in the pictures, and if one day I am going to wake up, and be the way I was again...... 4. How has your family and friends adjusted to the change in you? This is a hard one..... My mom is VERY proud of me, and is thinking of doing it for herself****il OPRAH had her show) My husband says I'm sexier, although doesnt comment hardly at all. I have to ask him. My kids thinks it's GREAT, although I look like a sharpei puppie in areas..LOL!! AT WORK ** some coworker never knew I was fat, due to 2 promotions in 1 year, others just stare, trying to figure out who I was/was?? I do have a little fan club I call my fashion police, who are very kind & comlimenting CHurch... people trying to figure out if I am the same person... 5. How much weight have you lost? More or Less than you expected by this point. I have lost 167 lbs... I have lost about what I thought I would although my goal is still 6 lbs away!!! 6. Are you pleased with your surgery results? Would you do it again? ARE YOU KIDDING?????? In a HOT MINUTE!!! Best thing I ever have done.... Tanya 358/191/185

Hi, I've been thinking about a tummy tuck and to lift the girls up. I don't want any implants or anything, just to bring whatever is left up some. I'm afraid but what the heck , I was afraid to do this. I heard that sometimes a tummy tuck could be covered. I'm hoping. After my next appointment with my surgeon, which is in March, I will start to check it out. Good Luck with your appointment. Also check your STATE board and see if anyone there had it done and who they had. Koukla

Hi donna, I've missed you. I haven't been on too much and when i have I've just read and not posted. Just plain lazy I guess. But the times I have come on I did notice your presence missing. You always give good advice. I've been doing good. (NOT TONIGHT) But in general I have been holding on to between a 157 - 154 weight loss. I weigh between 181 and 184. Depending on the day. I really want to lose more but if not I'm happy. And I have noticed an increase in my Carbs. I know I have to cut those back. Tonight I just felt like my pre surgery self eating machine. Couldn't even tell you what triggered it. Well, glad you're back. love, Koukla

A September Folks Survey....how fun! Okay, my turn: Lets do a survey just for fun. 1. What type surgery did you have, and why did you choose that kind? LAP-RNY because I wanted to dump! Unfortunately, I don't dump! But still do not regret having chosen the RNY over the lap band. 2. What is the greatest change in your life since surgery? Better question is what has NOT changed! I have more self-confidence, more outspoken at work and socially, people LISTEN to me now, i am no longer invisible. 3. What was the hardest adjustment since surgery? Hardest adjustment is struggling with dealing with anxiety and issues that I normally would have dealt with by eating. Food was a source of comfort for me, now it cannot be, and so I'm trying to deal with anxiety without resorting to eating. 4. How has your family and friends adjusted to the change in you? My friends do not know. Only 3 members of my family know I have had this surgery. I plan to keep it this way, I believe it has helped me succeed by keeping my anonymity. My family treats me the same, my friends treat me the same, maybe some of my guy friends treat me a little better, I don't know, but I hope not. 5. How much weight have you lost? More or Less than you expected by this point. Technically, my highest weight was 227 and I am now at 124 so that's 103 pounds! From the surgery, my weight went from 215 to 124. 6. Are you pleased with your surgery results? Would you do it again? Absolutely! I have the best doctor in the world! I am even encouraging my mother to get the lap band. It improves the quality of your life and your health especially if you have co-morbidities like she does (sleep apnea, apple body, high cholesterol)

Well, not you, but me! I don't know what to say - I have been just lazy, or busy, or both. I peek in almost every day, read what you all are doing, and decide I have nothing relevant to say. I really don't now, but I wanted you all to know I'm here in case anyone has missed me!! For the weigh in that Shel started, I didn't see that in time. I weigh now what I think is going to be my goal (sort of like Barb). I am between 149-153. That's fine with me, in fact to tell the truth I was happy at 160 but I wanted to get to normal BMI which would have been 157 so I'm okay. I would like to have some plastics done, but haven't done much in the way of doing anything yet. Went to North Carolina a few weekends ago to see my sweet nephew deploy to Afghanistan. That was bitter sweet. Those young men and women are so fearless and so sweet. I love our military. Well so that's it for me. I told you I was boring these days. So what's up with everyone else!! love!! donna

1. What type surgery did you have, and why did you choose that kind? I had LAP/RNY, because the surgeon said it was safer for someone of my size and it's the only one my insurance paid for. 2. What is the greatest change in your life since surgery? I'm havin a baby !!! Okay that and I feel better at almost 40 then I felt when I turned 20. 3. What was the hardest adjustment since surgery? The way people reacted to me, giving me compliments and telling me how well things were going. 4. How has your family and friends adjusted to the change in you? Most everyone was very supportive of me going through this and I found those who weren't were generally confused or misinformed. 5. How much weight have you lost? More or Less than you expected by this point. I went from my highest weight known of 488 down to 260 so a 228 lb loss. Way more then I expected,I figured if I lost 100lbs I would have succeeded. 6. Are you pleased with your surgery results? Would you do it again? Yes and no, Yes because it was great and did what it was meant to do , and no because I am still at 2 something. Some days I feel I failed myself...Not post op, but pre op, I think if I had only done this sooner at a smaller weight then by now now I would have been "At goal" like so many others, at least I have my family here to remind me that someone who starts at 2something can and eventually WILL get there

Topic: About that Superbowl...
A man had box seat tickets for the Super Bowl. As he sits down, a man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him. "No," he says. "The seat is empty." "This is incredible," said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?" The first man says, 'Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we haven't been to together since we got married." "Oh .. I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else, like a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?" The man shakes his head. "No. They're all at the funeral. Blessings: Betsy
