Hello there,
One of my best friends had this surgery in March. She also has PCOD. I remember well that her weight stalled at around 3 weeks (and several other times), but it always started coming off again. So while I haven't hit that problem (yet), she did and she was so bummed. But it started coming off again (and she's lost 83lbs so far), so I think that what you are going through is normal.
I'm sorry I can't help you from personal experience.
Take care and good luck! This *will* work. I understand lots of us feel like it works for everyone else, but not me, and it will work for you, too. I'm thinking of you and sending good vibes your way.

i'm having the same problem, i have not lost in over a week. i was 280 before surgery and i went down to 255 by post 2 weeks. since then i have been going up and down with 1 pound on and off for over a week. i'm really upset about it but i try to not show it. i have been on my monthly friend also so that might be a reason for no loss. it sucks because everyone now only knows to ask, how much more have you lost so when i say nothing, it makes me feel like a fat cow that even after surgery can't loss weight. i know they say it's normal but like you said when they have lost more than 50 lbs it's easier to say than when you are just a beginer and we all have in our minds that we might fail this weight loss. well just hang inthere and if you ever wanna chat, drop me an email, sometimes a little venting is nice, lol. [email protected]. take care and good luck at your dr visit, update on what your dr says. maria oh, what's your name?
i am having the exact same problem. the nutritionist and doctor say it's nothing to worry about. but it's really hard to deal with. everything we're going through, i want to see the scale move. it would be so much easier if that scale would just move.
i feel like it was easier to lose weight BEFORE the surgery.
Ramona-
Hey, It will get moving again. I understand a "stall" at around 3 weeks is really normal. It's your body trying to adjust to what's going on.
I have been really slow loosing. I was stalled for several days and a friend told me to change things up a bit.... add some protein, walk a little more, or drink more water. Any one of those.
I walked a bit further and upped my protein intake. Well, I did that yesterday and lo and behold the scale moved down another 2 lbs! Yeah!
Also, don't forget that we all started this journey at different weights. The more you weigh the faster you loose.
I have only lost 12 lbs post op. so far. I am 17 days out.
Don't get too frustrated. Just keep your chin up, drink your water, keep getting your protein, walk or whatever moving you can do and it will come off!!!!!
Also, try measuring during this stalls...sometimes you have nice losses in inches even when the lbs. aren't coming!
Hugs,
Linda
Ramona,
I know EXACTLY what you mean. I have PCOS too. I had surgery 7/26, and lost 15 pounds in a week and a half, and now, I have LOST NOTHING AT ALL for a week straight.! I have been crying buckets for 3 days, and my husband is getting so tired of telling me to be patient! Well, DAMN. I dont WANT to be patient. I am taking in 600 calories a day most days and walking almost every day! What the hell, my children eat three times as much as me (at least) and my husband eats like 5 times as much as me, and NOT ONE of them is gaining, infact, my teenager lost 4 pounds this week! I am so emotional right now due to the hormones (I guess) and I have no patience for my husband or anybody for that matter. A little weight loss sure would help, being that I eat NOTHING, and am on the edge of insanity 24/7!
lol
I agree, get off the scales, you're losing inches. I am over 4 weeks out and as of Tuesday (dr appt) had only lost 17 pounds since surgery. I'm looking so much better already so I'm not worried anymore about the scale.
It will come off before you know it.
Think about this...did you have to lose weight before surgery? I lost 20 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks before surgery and after it's like a scale but my doc says I lost 7% of my body weight before and 8% after. Think of it in terms of percentage. In general, the people who are losing 50 pounds the first month are only losing 1-3% of their body weight and are starting at a higher weight. Some people start slow and speed up, other people start off fast and slow down.
no i did not have to loose any weight before surgery. I was approved a year before I went ahead and had the surgery. But yeah you are right. I have noticed that the people that weigh alot more than me has lost alot more than me.. Although I have I am loosing inches. i lost 5 inches around my waist already and 3 in my legs and 2 1/2 in my arms so that is good and none in my boobs haha that cracks me up.. but hey they were there before i got heavy so i don't really see them going anywhere's .. thanks for the advice and support everyone..
