Topic: New here, just got surgery date

Just wanted to introduce myself really quick...my name is Holli, I'm a 27-year-old mother of two kiddos (an 8-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter), wife to my military hubby of nine years, and full-time (almost done!) student majoring in Human Services. My surgery date is June 17, 2009.

Okay, that was a mouth full!

Anyway, I am currently 5'4" and 233.5 lbs (my heaviest weight). Growing up I actually never had any weight issues and was fairly thin. I got pregnant when I was 19 and have struggled with my weight since then. I have very painful arthritis due to a birth defect in my feet (an extra bone in both feet) and have had three surgeries. I am extremely excited to get the extra weight off of my feet and lessen the pain in them! That's what I'm most excited for.

Look forward to chatting with all my fellow June surgery pals!

We have the same date 6/18. The nerves started as soon as I got the actual date.

I would rather have a surgeon that is concerned about your well-being than one that does the procedure for the money! Everything is meant to be for a reason! You will do fine :)

OK , here goes!  I meant with my surgeon today and have to admit that I am disappointed, but understand everything he says.
The gastric bypass is not good for me right now because of my size.  There are too many complications that may occur!
Dr. Andrew Duffy, who is a very nice and caring surgeon I must say, let me know that the sleeve would be better for me and has less complications.

I like how he cares enough to look out for my well being, and not just rush me into a surgery that he knows will be more complicated for me, " you know what I mean?"  And if I don't lose the desired weight from the sleeve then I can go ahead and have the bypass.

I'm praying in JESUS name that the sleeve and exercise will be what I need to lose this weight.

Also, my date has changed from June 11th to June the 18th.  My surgeon will be out of town or something, so they had to change it.

OH, and they totally turned my whole vitamin and protein research all around. My mind is zooming right now.  I'll get back in touch about the vitamin and protein thing later.
