Topic: 10 days post op hip surgery
Hi all...well I saw my doc on thursday to have the stitches removed and the news I got was not great. He had to remove the entire cartelege from my hip, so I no longer have any cushion there. This means that over time (and we don't know the timeline) I will have wear on the joint and will no doubt require a hip replacement. I'm only 46 (will be 47 in Oct) so to do one now would not be good, as they only last 10-15 years. The doc said that he has it seen it take weeks, months or even years for severe arthritis to progress, but there is no telling. He said he will be keeping a close eye on me for years. He also told me that if I get any clicking or popping of my left hip joint to tell him immediately.
So, this is not going to take weeks to heal, more like months. In the meantime I am not allowed to run, jog or even walk at a fast pace. No squatting and especially loaded (lifting something) squatting for at least 4-6 months. I cannot do anything that would put any excess stress on that joint. Tammy and I are going to look into the Y for a swimming program as this is probably the best exercise for me now.

I am struggling too. This 3rd shift thing kicks your a**!! I eat ok during the day and then while I am awake at night I want pop and sweet stuff!!!!
Yesterday
1 protein coffee
2 sf jello with a little whipped cream
1 sf popsicle
a handfull of chips and salsa and the meat out of a chimichanga- barfed it up (does that still count?)
3 bites of battered fish and a few bites of scalloped potatoes.
too much trail mix with nuts and fruit and candy pieces
5 pretzels
1 latte
I hate 3rd shift. One of the girls I work with had wls too and she is constantly drinking pop and eating candy and it is such a bad influence on me. It is a good thing I am only part time!!

I am trying to do more self talk and less looking around at cute little petite women! I will never be what they are and never was! God made me who I am so I guess it should be good enough for me. My husband says women spend too much time thinking about the bad body bits and men don't see those til we point them out! LOL!
I hope I will feel more released after my plastics. If I get my insurance to cover it!

Hi Pam,
Very sorry to hear about your job woes, can only say, been there, done that...My kids had school canx on Friday due to Ernesto ( live on the coast of NC just above Wilminton, and we had HEAVY flooding, rain and wind)...I still had to go to work though, I'm an insurance agent, these times mean even more work in my day than usual and 1st Friday of the month is always crazy anyway...Keep your chin up looking for work and I will keep you in my thoughts...

Must be getting close to my period, the chocolate monster has really been rearing its ugly head and I've been snacking alot on sf choc - good for the bowel movements, not such a good diet choice...

Hi, Wendy--
I know exactly how you feel, because I am close to your size. When I was a teenager, I felt gawky and ugly, because I didn't look like the cute little blondes that were (and are) considered the ideal. Fortunately, I learned that many guys LIKED tall, athletic girls!!
We have to learn that our beauty is our own; we can't be the cute little "Meg Ryan", but we can be ourselves, and be the wonderful, funny, intelligent, attractive women we are.
Now that you are so close to your goal, I applaud your efforts. You must learn to appreciate the wonderful things about you. You are special, because you are unique, because you are YOU.

I'm sorry I haven't been in here. I'm on a desperate search to find another job. It's so difficult because I have worked with these people for so long and truly love them - but the cir****tances have just changed so much that it's in the best interest of my family (and me) to make the change. And making it even harder.... I'm so dang picky!! I feel like since I don't HAVE to leave where I'm at....I can be as picky as I want to be about where I go. Yet...I feel sorta like a time bomb ticking.... I cried at work TWICE this week just from the stress and here it is a three day weekend and I brought a ton of work home with me. The kids got out of school early today because of Ernesto... the big boss let everyone out at Noon...but the guy I work for didn't let us do that. So, I leave a half hour early and before I go... he says "see you Tuesday morning and be ready to hit the ground running next week." (he was out of the office two days this past week) AS IF I sat on my tuffet all week and did NOTHING and was a slacker for leaving a 1/2 hour early!!!! AUGH!!!! He has NO IDEA. OHHHHHH I just won't even go down this road anymore today.... just please pray for me to find that perfect job.

Thursday:
B - 2 scrambled eggs

2 homefrie wedges
1/4 a strawberry bagel w/cream cheese
L - 3 oz turkey & havardi cheese rolled
1/4 c diced tomatoes

D - 3 pieces sf candy

6-7 cashews
couple pieces fruit trail mix
1 oz chicken roll (stuffed with cheese and broccoli)
Really glad I'm doing this, makes me take a good look at what I do in the day...I can see clearly that Dinner was an issue, and know it is because I had a hair appt after work, that put me home late and I did not plan for dinner (my husband fed himself and the kids cause he know I would be late), quick inventory and I decided on the chicken roll for dinner, but it took too long to cook and I snacked and snacked and then did not want the chicken
...Lesson learned, plan better...

at your comment about the pubic hair! OMG, you're right. I'm going to have to ask him about that.
I'm so glad the first one is over... I've got my second opinion consult a week from Monday.
Good luck with your 1st ps consult! Once you bare it all, there's nothing else left. Oh, what we will do.... Can't wait to hear about your experience!
