just wondering, does the size of your clothes bug you at all? i feel like i shouldn't care, but i do! i am wearing a size 10 or 12. that is great compared to the tight 20 or 22 that i wore before surgery! but at 142 and 22 lbs from goal, i just wonder where i will end up? i think ideally i would be happy at size 6 (NEVER was a 6!), but i just don't know if i will get there. i guess it shouldn't matter... does anyone else think about this? or am i obsessing? hugs~mary jo

HI MARY JO!!!!! I dont know as i have no final goal for myself and i think im allowing my body to take me to where its most comfortable. I honestly cant imagine my body going under a size 12 as i feel i have big bones and hips...all the weight loss in the world wont change that any. I dont think ur obsessing but i think every 10 lbs at your stage should be new sizes. so another 22 lbs will bring you proly into a 6 to 8 range! NOT UNREALISTIC i think! GOOD LUCK (((HUG)))) LISA

heyyyy lisa! it will be interesting to see where we all end up once we reach goal. that would be so cool to end up in a 6! but like you said, wherever my body feels most comfortable will make me happy! good luck to you, too! hugsssss

Yup Mary Jo, I think about sizes too! The thing is I just don't understand the sizes now compared with the sizes a few years ago. About 8 years ago when I was 128 lbs, I wore a size 7-8. and Levi's jeans were a 29 waist. But just last week I went clothes shopping, and here I am at 168 lbs, which is still 40 lbs away from my lowest weight ever, and I fit into a Levi's size 10 jeans, and Levi's 34 waist jeans. 12's fit me too in various brands, and 11's in juniors, but 10's fit the best if I don't want "baggy butt" lol So it makes me wonder if I am going to be a size negative-somethin when I get to goal, in 43 lbs from now! I would like to end up a size 6 too- for one I have never been a 6 before and for two, it seems like I don't see many clothes that come in a 4 or 2! Anywho, my neighbor is my height and is 118 lbs and she says that at her weight, if she were to gain 5 lbs she would go up the next size. So maybe when we get really close to our goal weight, each size down will result from a 5-10lb loss. Tiffany

ya know, i have wondered about how sizes have changed too. the lowest weight i remember, about 10 years ago i got down to 132 and wore 11/12. i think i was around 147lbs this time when i fit into a 10. kinda depressing to think the manufacturers are playing mind games with us! well if what lisa and your friend says is right, then maybe i will reach size 6 after all! well, that is if i reach goal. hugsssss

Mary Jo, you are doing GREAT!!! I have no doubt you will reach your goal, and I am betting before your 9 month mark that you said you wanted! I am hoping to reach mine by my 12-month mark. I still have 42 left to lose, and although November is a good month so far (well today is the last day, so it's not like my Nov. total is gonna change lol), I know that when I get smaller the weight comes off slower, soooooo we will see. But you will get there!!!! We all will!!!!! Tiffany

I just had an email conversation with my best friend about this today. About 11-12 years ago, I weighed roughly 160-165 and wore a size 14 or 16. Right now, I weigh 201 and am comfortable in size 16 pants. While I was thrilled to death about this (I started in tight 32's!), it got me wondering how that worked. In high school, I was a size 9/10 at my lowest weight of 135. At the rate I am going, I think I might be in a 10 at my goal of 150. My friend mentioned something to me called "vanity sizing" - that several years ago, clothing manufacturers started making their sizes differently, so a true size 16 would be thrilled to find herself in a 14, or even a 12. It is likely that in the 10+ years since I have been in "normal" sized clothes, the parameters have changed. My thought in the end was that I don't care. I am in size flippin 16 pants for goodness sake! Yea me! Anyway Mary Jo, to answer your question, I personally am looking more toward my BMI and how I feel than the size of my clothes. I do think about it, but in the end, how we feel is what reallly matters. Hugs! Nicole P.S. My friend also said that expensive designers typically hold true to actual sizes. If you want to know for sure, spend a day trying on some expensive dresses.

yes nicole, i also am looking forward to my BMI. especially the NORMAL BMI, which i will hit in 7 more lbs! i think the size issue is just something that i think about more for self-esteem reasons. even though i am down to 142 and haven't been this weight in almost 11 years, i don't really feel like it has helped with how i FEEL about me, you know? i just talked about this tonight at my parents. my sister bought me a new coat. it is fitted and i have never worn a coat like that. i buttoned it up and asked them, "do i look fat?". my dad starts going on about how much weight i have lost and i am slimming down to nothing and do i seriously think i look fat. well, yes i do sometimes. i wonder how i look to other people. they told me to go see a psychiatrist! congrats on your success so far! you are doing great! hugsssss

Hi Mary Jo- Boy have I missed posting! My computer crashed, then I tried to change my user name because of my fear of people being able to google my name (especially as a teacher, I don't want students to access my info!!), then I couldn't get back in again. Now, instead of being full name, or Scrappin Gal, now I'm just ~~ Kerri~~. More info than you needed I know!!! I do start obsessing about sizes. I had been at a 30-32. I'm now in a tight 20 or 22. One of my goals was to fit into a size 12 pair of jeans. I get really discouraged when I try on a pair of pants that I think will fit, but are still too tight. I'm looking forward to joining all of you in Onederland someday, though I think it will still be quite some time for me- 49 lbs. more to go. Congratulations on your success so far- you've done great. And, your pic is fabulous!! Take care, Kerri
