I wanted to thank everyone *****sponded and posted such wonderful feeedback when I posted my five months results November 10th. I would usually respond to each and everyone *****plied to me but I've been crazed at work. I also wanted to especially wish all of the pre-ops and recent post-ops who wrote me much best wishes and encouragement. If a cross-addicted person like me could succeed beyond my wildest dreams so could you!! Debbie, I still owe you a phone call and I will call you. This morning I weighed in at my chiropractor's office at 247 pounds. What a thrill it was for a guy who 5 months ago didn't register on a medical scale to see that first piece of metal on 200 pounds and not 350 pounds. That's 117 pounds gone since my initial consultation on May 19th and approxiately 113 pounds gone since my June 10th surgery. I still have not received my first fill! Truth be told I now feel virtually no restriction whatsoever. I think that now my continued results has to do with how I've generally re-programmed my overall eating habits (altough there are definitely days when I overeat and eat the wrong foods). Generally I now drink gallons of water and have no liquid calories, chew each bite of food about thirty times, avoid high carb food (I've cut out bread almost all together and now eat wraps), eliminated cake, cookies, ice cream (altough I'll have an 8 ounce Tasti-Delight or frozen yogurt about 3 or 4 times a week) and exercise 4-5 times a week. I've been lucky and never have gotten sick since the surgery. Bottom line, the weight loss has slowed down a little since the few incredible months but I'm definitely still losing (3 pounds this week after no weight loss last week), feeling 100 times more energetic and I'm still able to eat the foods that I enjoy but in self-imposed moderation. I can't describe how wonderful it feels to be able to buy clothes off the rack in any store. In 5 months and one week I've gone from a 54 waist and today I bought a size 40 pants. I've gone from a size 56 regular jacket to a 46 regular and from a size 19 George Forman Big and Tall to a size Large normal shirt. No offense to Big George but it's nice to be able to wear a designer shirt and not think of George Forman!!! I remember wearing size 40 pants when I was 12 years old before losing a lot of weight to fit into my Little League uniform! I have gotten incredible, incredible feedback from people at work, complete strangers and family members. I'm told that I look 10 years younger. I actually race and now beat my 7 year old in the park. He has played ice hockey since he was 4 years old and is really fast but not fast enough!! I'm not embarrased to be in family pictures anymore or to go to reunions. This has been one of the most rewarding undertakings I've ever experienced. My surgeon and regular doctor have been so supportive too and have been motivating me to continue to surprise them. The best part though has been no longer being dependent on a daily acid pill, no longer feeling light-headed (especially when I needed to simply tie my shoes or walk up the stairs), no longer snoring, no longer breaking into the sweats and psychologically regaing a sense of selse-esteem and some of the competitive fire that defined me in my late teens and early twenties. Sometimes I think that I reveal too much of what I'm feeling inside in my profile and in my posts. I share these feelings mostly for the benefit of those who are either debating whether or not to have this surgery and for those who may be struggling. I also do so because too often we start to get the physical results and don't focus on what's going on inside of us. Things have been a little tough financially the past few weeks which has caused some tension at home, for example. Despite that, I still feel so fortunate and positive because I now know what Miracles can happen in very short periods of time with a bit of effort, commitment and help from above! I've also posted some new pictures and have a before and after picture altough I still want to take off another 40-50 pounds. Until next time...God Bless and continued luck on everyones journey!
