PLEASE READ... Re:Starvation Mode!!!!
Hi there all of my "June Bug friends!!
I wanted to share with all of your my experiences this week with weight loss.... and "starvation mode".... So hopefully someone will be helped from my "trials and tribulations"....
I, like many of us, have been enduring a "plateau" for weeks... accompained by a very slow weight loss of 10# in almost 8 weeks total... I had begun exercising at the gym.. ate mainly protein and followed all the rules (but on avg 100 gms of protein and 100oz of water a day).... I was sooooo frustrated I wanted to jump out of a window!!!!!!!!
I went to my PCP on Saturday (after calling my bariatric surgeon proved fruitless) and discussed my slooooow weight loss with her.. We decided I "might" be in "starvation mode" and to TRY adding a couple of hundred calories to my daily intake...
Well, I added a protein drink in the am and one in the pm... and added calories in the evening (I love my sugar free ice cream).... AND I HAVE LOST 6-8 POUNDS SINCE SATURDAY!!!!!
I was afraid to even tell anyone as I "would be jinxed" and my weight loss would stop!! That is silly though....
I just want to encourage everyone to consider "starvation mode" as a reason why weight loss has stalled! I am glad I did!!

Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom! It is good to know these things. I am sorry for your stall but we have all agreed that no matter how perfectly you follow the rules, etc. we will have plateaus! Tricking your body by doing something differently seems to work wonders though, and when you are in a starvation mode, you need to trick it the most! Happy losing Sandy! So glad it is working! Jo

I think thats why i have never stalled and had any
week with no losses.
I do get weeks with small ones but never nothing.
I always keep my calories up as best i can! AND
to avoid that starvation mode where the body
HOLDS the fat!

i have told people about this and your proof of it!
JUST cant up the calories with wrong choices but
with the right ones we will loose faster!

Hi Sandy,
I have heard of this and I know i have to start to mix it up and add some foods to my intake. I only get in about 800 calories a day, I know if I kick it up to about 1,000 it will make my weight loss that much quicker, but I am too full right now to eat any more. GOSH who every thought I would say that! LOL!

I dont count my calories but i do know i get my calories
a little higher thru a bit of fat in my foods...a lo carb
wrap w/ some mayo...taco meat w/ sourcream. ALOT
i learned while doing atkins in 2004......
I just eat and dont worry about how many calories I am
getting but the scale definitely moves better for me as
well when i eat more. I do eat more of the right foods
i try to get the more calories thru a little bit of fat. I
make my egg with butter things like that and it seems
to give the boost....
Im no expert. I just try to be sucessful like everyone.
