5 MONTH REPORT: DOWN 112, 107 SINCE SURGERY NO FILL AND NEW PICS!
Next Wednesday will be five months since my surgery. I haven't posted in a few weeks because I've been extremely busy at work but I wanted to check in as my 5 months anniversary approaches. I weighed 364 on May 19th (my initial consultation), approx. 359 on June 10th (my surgery date) and 252 this morning. So that's 112 pounds overall and approx. 107 since surgery in a bit under 5 months! I'm obviously thrilled and amazed! This was an interesting month. I actually was down in the low 250s for a while, actually gained a few pounds and then lost 4 pounds pretty rapidly before my surgeon post-op appointment. All total I lost 8 pounds for the month. I have yet to have a single fill and my surgeon actually said that the key has been my daily commitment to exercise and totally changing what I eat. I actually no longer feel restriction and on occaison can eat alot but generally I am satisfied with much less food. I was a tight 54 waist on June 10th and now comfortably fit into a 42 pants and can fit into a size 40. I actually can shop in regular stores! I bought a size large sweatsuit. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I'd see a size large again without 2 0r 3 XL before it! To all newbies I wish the best of luck! I was also afraid of failure and afraid of never being able to eat the foods that I love. I still go to my favorite pre-surgery breakfast place every Sunday with the family and can eat anything I want to eat just smaller portions (even tough I can still eat more). I still crave ice cream but treat myself to a 4 or 8 ounce tasti-delight in a cup (80 calories) vs. an extra large Carvel in a cone. I kep a detailed log on my profile page that describes my first few weeks post-op. Feel free to read about my journey and email me with questions. I still want to lose 50 more pounds but it sounds a lot better that needing to lose 164 pounds! In my case. the surgery was the kick in the you know what to motivate me to tap into the competitive lost athlete that was buried in my fat man's suit. I take great pride that at 43 I feel 23 again and have yet to have a single fill. That way I feel that my commitment to this process is a major factor to the wonderful results so far. God bless to one and all and check out my news pics comparing my weight of 370 in October 2004 and my current weight!
