Hi all, I just had my 4 month birthday. I've lost 68 lbs. so far, which I'm excited about. To dayte, I hadn't had too many issues from the surgery. However, in this last month, I have had so many issues with not being to keep food such as meat or chicken down. The last 3 days, I've only been able to take 3-4 small bites and then I get sick. It feels like it sits there, or that air has somehow gotten into the pouch. I know that I don't have a stricture, since I have been able to get some food down like cheese. The only way to relieve this feeling, which will go on for hours, is to . Hardly anything comes up- a lot of foamy type spit, a small amount of liquid, etc. I'm not trying to be graphic, but I haven't had this problem in the past. It seems like it's really just started in the last 4 weeks. Once a little bit is out, my pouch feels better and I can go on with life. The problem is, I can't get enough food into my body without getting sick. I'm drinking about 70+ g of protein from the protein drinks. Thank goodness or my body would be starving even more. Fortunately, I haven't had any hair loss yet...at least none that's noticeable. Sorry that this is so long... I just wanted to know if anyone else was dealing with this but me. If so, how long did it take to get past this stage? Thanks all!!!! Take care, Kerri

I have good days with what you have and bad. I cant say i only get a few bites in when it starts. I usually have my little meal and go thru that aafter. I always thought i was over eating or eating to fast which i have troubles with. I do the exact thing...but cant say i feel uncomfy for hours. NORMALLY once that frothy nonsense is up i feel better, i guess thats why i help it up sometimes to just feel better. MAYBE its wise to talk to your surgeon on this kerri, i dont have it every meal or every time i eat meat or chicken just on ocasion! GIVE them a call to be safe so many things can cause problems...GALL STONES if you have your gall bladder still...let the surgeon know exactly what your going thru thats part of their follow up care! GOOD LUCK KEEP US POSTED LISA

Kerri, Hun I would do like Lisa said and call your surgeon, it might not be anything bad but you can ask him/her. I know for me sometimes I forget I had the surgery and I eat to fast or not chew enough, also eat to much at times then it hits me, HELLO YOU HAD THE SURGERY. I wish you the best hun ~Hugs~ Debra P 285/202/125??

It's not just you. Usually, it's from eating too fast or too much. Or tougher chicken or meat - definitely no hamburgers or reheated meats for me! I've gotten bad about skipping meals, and that's when it's the worst for me - there's a ton more frothing when I get really hungry before eating. Also, the protein drinks seem to increase the amount of frothing. Way back when, (a month - 6 weeks out), I called my doc about it and they gave me a prescription for Reglen to take about 30 mins before eating. It stimulates your stomach to push everything in it on through. I've found, though, that hot liquids, like coffee, tea, cider, etc. do the exact same thing and I don't feel so hungry when I eat. Try that about 30 mins. before eating. (Yeah, I know what they say about caffiene, but this is my real life!) If meat and chicken are your only source of problems, I'm sure it's not a problem with your grouch - it's just being a grouch! Always check with your doc to be sure! Good Luck! Kristie

I think there are a lot of us that continue to have the grouchy pouchy and the foamies. One time it was spinach from Applebee's which was part of the artichoke dip. It layed across my stoma leading to the intestine and blocked everything else. That lasted the longest. It went down so well, and I was able to eat about 1/2 cup of it. Go figure! Are you taking any medications? After thinking I had a stricture and getting close to ordering one, my surgeon had me bring in all my pills (which are considerably less than before). He discovered I was taking a very dense pill which was only a fraction of a mm smaller than the opening. Once I cut the pill in thirds, the majority of foamy problems went away. I must chew, chew, chew, and fill up after 1/2 c max. Most times 1/4 c is enough. Liquid have gotten better. Once grouchy is up in arms, he's ugly for hours. I keep an urp cup as some men keep a spit cup. Even mashed potatoes will come back if the tummy is upset. So................... : YOU are NOT ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KERRI- YOU SOUND EXACTLY LIKE ME. SINCE THE SURGERY I CANNOT THROW UP AT ALL, LIKE YOU SAID, IT'S JUST FOAMY SPIT. I KEEP PHENEGRAN ON ME ALL THE TIME, BECAUSE ONCE I GET SICK THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES IT BETTER IS TIME. I ALSO TRY TO GET AS MUCH PROTEIN IN AS I CAN AND HAVE NOTICED MY HAIR IS SHEDDING A LITTLE MORE THAN IT USE TO, BUT SO FAR IT HASN'T GOT THAT BAD, NO, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE, AND YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I CAN TOTALLY RELATE!!

Thanks you guys for the support... I sooo appreciate it!!! You rock!! You made me think of things that I wouldn't have. Like the meds, I haven't taken a pill since the surgery. I'm too afraid something will get stuck. And the gall stones, except that I had gall bladder out about 8 years ago. That was way more painful, by the way, than this surgery! Ouch!! I had some halibut tonight and kept it down. I seem to do okay with fish, I know some other people don't. The foamy stuff is such a pain- literally!! Even now my pouch is rumbling, although I'm not feeling nauseous. I hope we all make it through this stage soon! Thanks for all of your stories and your support. Take care, Kerri
