Dear Toni, I think you are more on target with the majority than minority. 65 lbs is great. I've lost 60, but 51 since my surgery. The way I look at is like this...If I'm following the rules, drinking water and taking my vitamin, then I don't have a lot to do with the weight loss part. It is going to happen, and it's going to happen at the rate my body desires. Don't get discouraged my friend. Have you even lost 65 lbs in four months and knew it wouldn't come back? Enjoy the transformation and just follow the rules, you'll continue to have success! Love, Debra 239/179/125

Hey, I think you are doing wonderful. Some people lose faster or slower than others. It is hard not to compare but no one is the same. Your metabolism may be different. I drink alot of liquid through the day, probably close to 96oz a day, I walk 4 miles aday, do water aerobics 3 times a week, do weight training 3-4 times a week and bowl on Tuesdays. This is amazing considering I use to just go to work and crash when I got home. I was tired all the time too, but as the weight comes off I seem to gain energy. Now it is like if I miss a day doing one of my walks or activities I feel lost, frustrated and I really miss doing it now. I use to hate to do any physical activity now I love it. Your weight will melt away, just try to be patient with yourself, I think you are doing marvelous just keep it up. Best of Luck Deloris 309/288/204/135

Toni, I think you are doing great. I had surgery on 6/22/05 and I am down 66lbs. My Dr. confirmed yesterday that, that is great! Just keep up the good work and don't get down on yourself! Ilyssa

I am down 70 lb (since April) but 55 since surgery (June 15) so I am very similar to you. For a while I was really bummed about this but now I am just happy to be losing. I have stopped comparing myself to other people. I too drink 80-100 oz. of liquid and 80-100 grams of protein and exercise every day. So, I think you can do some things to help you lose but for the most part it is who you are. You can't change your basic metabolism with what you eat or how you exercise. It is who you are. Try not to be hard on yourself and follow the pouch rules and try to move everyday. You are doing great!! Jo

I think you're doing great! I am down 52 since 6/13, but I know that that is a good percentage of what I need to lose. I also lost 60 pounds leading up to surgery, so I knew it would be gradual. Imagine what the next 65 will look like! Heather 297h/238s/186c/125g lap RNY 6/13/05 Dr. Galvin Rochester General Hospital

I have lost 49.5 pounds since surgery on June 21st. Prior to surgery I went from 305 to 241 on the day of surgery. For the last 3 weeks I have been gaining and losing 6 pounds. It is very frustrating when you know you are just beginning to tolerate foods better. I complained to my husband and he had this wise response which thinking about it I wish I had realized. For the last 3 weeks, I haven't been throwing up half of what I eat. Oh yes, the foamies. Also I think the inches have been coming off as the clothes I bought in the last month are getting looser. I have my next check up this coming Tuesday. 4 weeks ago I weighed in at 194. Has anyone noticed that they are searching for foods they can successfully eat? I wonder if that is hurting my loss. I never go over 1000 cal and average 700 - 800. In the last 2 weeks I can finally drink 90 to 100 oz of fluids but without protein drinks I can only get in about 30 grams of protein a day. Does this sound typical? I'd love to hear from my birthday buddies!

I'm also a 6/21 surgery. I've lost 55 pounds since surgery, and that's without exercise (bone on bone hip prevents me from doing most normal activities, let alone exercise). I'm glad to be losing on the slow side, because it helps with skin tone. I started out at 226 and my goal is 110, which is what I weighed 7years ago before a series of injuries. I've discontinued all my blood pressure meds as of this week, so that's a plus. Clothes are very baggy. My skin is shrinking very nicely with no stretch marks or bagginess---again, the slow weight loss does that. I have a hard time getting in my water tho, and that bothers me. I have a protein shake in the morning, crackers for a snack, then some fluid, then lunch. In the evening is the only time I get significant fluid in----16 oz of water or low cal fruit juice.

Yes if you do not get in all of your liquids and protein, your weight loss will slow down or stop until you get on path again. It sounds strange but it's true, you have to get in at least the min. amount of fluids a day and the protein. I had mine June 14th and post op I have lost 62lbs and pre op I had lost 20lbs, so a total of 82. I want to lose it slowly because my skin is going to have enough problems with sagging without adding to it by a speedy weight loss. Hugs and you are right on schedule Just remember, YOU WILL LOSE IT no matter what, but it's how you follow the guidelines as to how much you are going to lose, when, and how fast.

Hi Toni, I had surgery on 6/23, so I just had my 4 month birthday. I've lost 68 lbs. I'm happy, though I've been frustrated, too. These last 3 weeks I have stalled unbelievably!! I keep doing all of the right things, but... no loss of more than 1/2 lb. I say the same as you, need more exercise, need more water. I'm getting in almost all of my protein through my drinks since I can't seem to keep anything down for the last few days. Keep going and stay the course. We will all be fine!!! Take care, Kerri
