Any Open folks having problems with staples?

This is another "odd" questions that I'd like a little feedback on. Does anyone else with a scar from an open procedure, have problems with a pinching feeling on or around the scar? I've been having problems for the last couple of weeks, usually when I'm curled up on the couch or sitting for prolonged periods, especially when wearing jeans or something else that doesn't give as much. When I talked to a friend Friday (same procedure, same doc), she mentioned that she called the PA, who told her it might be a staple that has shifted as she's lost weight. She offered to give her a lidocaine (sp?) injection, but said that it's not that uncommon. This is not a pouch staple, but one of the layers that were closed back up. The pinching is not only around the scar, but in other areas. I think that they cut each layer in a different direction (like with a cecarean section, to avoid it being pulled open. Any additional feedback would be great. I go in for my 5 month in 3 weeks - I'll talk to them more about it then. What do ya'll think? Kristie

I do get the same pinch...not on my incision but just to the right of it...but i've noticed it happens more when I haven't had a BM in a couple of days. I told my MD and he says it's nothing to worry about cause i'm still healing. ~Issy 360/273/??? 6lb loss this week!

I've had it on and off, I think it's the nerves growing back together and being irritated. Not sure, but I had the same thing when I had my C-sections. It goes away eventually. Wendy Daly

I thought it was the nerves growing back for the first few weeks, but it has become very localized. I can point out the spots that are the most uncomfortable anytime. I'm pretty much through with the tingly, numb-spot, itchy nerve regrowth sensations. I just don't like the pinching. It doesn't let me forget that the incision is there during routine activities. Ya know? I'm ready to move on, now. Thanks for the input. This is why we need this message board so much! Kristie

I've been told that it is the actual staples or surtures they use to close the open cavity. You're right about it being near the belly button at the bottom especially when wearing jeans. I was told not a big deal - it's really just a tinge rather than a pain...if it needs to be looked further into, nothing can really bedone until I need a tummy tuck or a hernia operation.... So I'll concentrate o nthe weight loss instead. Good luck. Silly.

I didnt have the open procedure but had a stomach drain for about 3 weeks after surgery. My scar is very touchy and does not like any pressure. I am pretty sure that the tube passage is taking a long time to close up..... But I am still nursing it along, after all some wounds take a long time to heal....
