Topic: a pick-me-up this morning
Hi everyone . . .
So you ladies won't think I'm a miserable whining gloomy gus all of the time . . . want to share with you what happened this morning! I have about 20 Rubbermaid tubs full of clothes that were too small, but I couldn't bear to part with anything over the years. (I still have the Levi's jeans I wore in my early 20's -- and I'm 42 years old now, LOL!)
Today I opened one of the tubs up just for kicks . . . and found that I can fit into 22's and 24's . . . and even one pair of 18/20 pants. Woohooo!!! I may just get into those Levi's yet!
It's been hard for me to "see" the weight loss in my clothes that I've been wearing all summer (you know, my "uniform" consists of baggy tshirts and stretch leggings, sizes 30/32 and 4X's).
I'm definitely losing at a different proportional rate than I was at on the way "up" . . . for instance, blazers that matched skirts/pants were too tight, yet the bottoms fit. Hopefully this will all even up eventually. There were two tubs of sweaters that I think I'll be able to wear through the winter season here . . .
. . . so I'll just set aside what I would have spent on new clothes (and save it for the plastic surgery that I know I'm gonna need!).

bj,
don't know if this will help.
yesterday,
brkfst - 11oz protein drink and a mozzarella string cheese stick
lunch - 4-5 chicken gizzards dipped in hot salsa
dinner - 2-3 oz of au gratin potatoes and 2-3 chicken gizzards.
sometimes I can eat quite a bit, sometimes I can't
and please, no one, jump on me about what I am eating. Don't really care what others eat or don't eat. This is me. smile.

Hi Junebugs,
Would you mind doing me a favor, pretty-please? I have my 3-month checkup at surgeon's next week . . . and as I posted before, I'm going to discuss the possibility that my stoma is enlarged and that I feel I'm able to eat WAY TOO MUCH.
I would like to be able to tell him what other folks who had the RNY surgery at the same time I did are eating on a daily basis, for comparison.
Is anyone willing to post their daily intake for 1-2 days so I have something to draw on? It sure would be appreciated.
Thanks,
BJ (who had shrimp for breakfast -- mmmm, protein!!)

Sorry to hear you're having problems -- sounds like a stricture to me.

If you drink Unjury Chocolate with water, it's 90 calories and 20 grams of protien. I guess you could do it that way. That's a lot of protein though.

Topic: RE: Having trouble
I had surgery 6/22/04 and starting at 3 weeks out I vomited several times daily. On 8/17 I had an endoscopy with dilation as my small intestine was closed off completely. Then about 2 weeks ago it started again, I ended up in the hospital last Thursday night with severe pain in rt side and back ended up I had another stricture in the same place and severe dehydration which caused kidney stones. I understand completely where you are coming from its hard to read about other people eating real foods when you can't even keep 1-2 bites down. Hopefully your endoscopy is sheduled for the very near future. Let me know if I can be of any further help. Please push your dr to get the endosocpy done soon so you don't have further complications.

Hi Lizzy,
Welcome to the June board.
My Lap Rny was on June 9th. I have lost 44.5 lbs to date. I started out weighing 218 the morning of surgery. I as of this morning weighed 173.5.
I am a slow loser. But I am happy with that. Slow is good.
My darling husband on the other hand had open Rny on May 18th and has lost 85+ lbs in less than 4 months. This pass Thursday he was rushed to surgery to remove his gallbladder. Seems the rapid weight loss struck up some stones. He is doing much better. Men seem to lose faster as does someone who starts out with more to lose. My husband could sneeze and lose 2 lbs.
But what you have loss so far is GREAT!!! I just praise GOD that I had the surgery and am on my way to a thinner healthier ME!!!
Good luck to you,
Cherish-Louisiana

Glad you called and are being seen. I haven't thrown up yet but live in dread of it ever happening. I KNOW what's happening to you is not normal. Please keep us posted.
Hang in there!

Lizzy,
Welcome to our neck of the woods.
It sounds like you are doing GREAT! We all lose at different rates. The "lightweights" lose slower than the others etc.
Imagine my surprise when I got a call from my friend who has lost 90 pounds in 12 WEEKS!!! Here I was sitting around thinking that I was superwoman for having lost 60 pounds in my first 3 months. Her surgery was two weeks after mine! She had to remind me that since she started 200 pounds ahead of me, it will always be like that. As a matter of fact, when I measured the % of excess body weight lost, we had both lost the same %. It's cool how that works out.
I just thrilled that we all got the surgery and are taking better care of ourselves. Keep up the good work.
