Hi Shawna, I just got over a 4-5 week plateau. It is hell but I think its just part of the process so keep following the rules and you'll be fine!

Thanks Tamara! I know 70 pounds was an extreme amount to lose in two months and I think my body did go in shock. I can tell a big difference in clothes though. And walking and other exercises. Thanks again for the response! Shawna

I think I reach a plateau every couple of weeks. And then suddenly the scale will show a 4 or 5 lb drop. Don't worry about what the scale says, you will notice more in the way your clothes are fitting and the more energy you have. 70 lbs is a lot to lose in the first two months, maybe your body is in complete shock. I had my surgery on 6/2/04 and have lost 47 lbs. But I feel absolutely wonderful. Hang in there. Tamara

Topic: 5 week plateau
I had surgery 6-10-04 and lost 70 pounds in two months. The last five weeks I haven't lost anything. I haven't changed my eating habits any. I only eat about 2 oz per meal three times a day . This fills me up. Sometimes I will have one snack. I probably get about 50 g of protein a day. I do walk about a mile a day. My doctor doesn't want us to go over 1000 calories a day . I believe I do about 800 to 1000. I don't know if my body is in catch up mode. Everyone says I am getting much smaller so I don't know if I am just losing inches and then the weighloss will pick back up. Sometimes I don't think I am eating enough but I feel full ALL THE TIME even on teh little amount I do eat. Anyone else experienced a plateau this early out? SHawna

Had an appointment with my PCP today. Top weight pre-op on her scales was 322; today I weighed in at 264. Down 58 pounds from my top weight. Top weight at my surgeon's office was 310, will find out on October 7 what my "official" weight loss is at his office. Tommorrow is my 3-month anniversary since having wls. Hope everyone is having a good day. Nancy
