Topic: RE: The first 6 months
Way to go Dorean, I am so happy that everybody did so good in our first 6 months. I said to myself that I am going to do better with my vitamins and excercising, that will be my challenge for the next 6 months.
Congrats to you...

I had surgery on 19 March. I was 330 at the time (380 at my highest) and am now just over 200, for a six month loss of just under 130 and a total loss of about 180. My doctor and I have begun discussing options for the tummy tuck.
Now that the summer heat is all but done with, I've reintensified my workouts. They slowed after my gall bladder removal in the beginning of summer. I bike or mountain hike just about daily now, and I've been able to completely change my eating habits (the Chinese restaurant peoiple nearby now know me as the "Egg Drop Soup Guy" and not the "Egg Foo Yung Guy.") It's amazing how easy it is to hike up a mountain with more than 100 pounds off my back. And I'm cold all the time, too. Let's just hope it's not a bad winter.
Congratulations on everybody's loss. Remember, it's not the number that's important. I only weigh myself about once a month. It's all about your health and how you feel.
Here's to another great six months for all of us Marchers!

Hi Amie,
I know what you mean especially when where busy with the kids !! I did curves from the start of wls, but now 6 months later I'm bored with that. I now do weights, cardio/swimming in makes it more interesting. Also I can see more results with the weights just go easy at first. Email me when you get a minute.

Google Dr. Joya His is $8,000 all inclusive. My sister-in-law and myself had my surgery with him Sept 20th 2007 and we both would do it again in a heartbeat. Great deal and same care/treatment you would receive if you have it here. Actually better care than some places here. There are places here that perform Lapband on an outpatient basis, at least in Mexico with Dr. Joya you spend the night at the hospital and they follow up with you after you go to the hotel. Dr. Joya's profile is on OH.
However, most packages in the US include followup and fills (adjustments) for the first year. If you have it in Mexico you have to tack on the cost for US followup and Fills. I'm going to Fill Center USA in Atlanta. It is 5 hours from where I live (one way) but worth the drive to me. I could get a fill in Nashville but it was going to cost me almost 3 times as much. You can type in "fill center usa" in google and see how close a fill doctor is to you or call around your town and see what doctors would charge for an adjustment. I used my primary care physican for follow up post surgery.l
There are many post on this web site for people who have used various docs in Mexico and did very well. Good luck!!!

Hey there Montego!!....I'm so glad everyone is doing great. I had my lap rny on
March 5th....I was 295 and now down to 190......Weight loss has slowed so much,
but heck I'm not gonna complain about 105 pounds lost in 6 mo. I had some
issues with protein malnourishment, anemia, and just had no tolerance for
food. I got over that, and am able to eat just about anything now. My labs
were sooo much better, still a little low on the protein side, which suprises
me because I aim for 100-120 grams a day. Excercise? I could do ALOT
better. I'm still in awe of this weight loss, and can't even imagine getting
to goal...which is 145 for me. Keep up the grat work, Dorean

Hey Rita,
Girl you still have a lot to be happy for just think you are 80lbs less then what you were at the start of your journey. I know you would like to have dropped 100 by 6 months. Just set another small goal and just work hard on that. I still think you are doing great with 80lbs lost.
Keep your head and your spirits up and you will get the weight down..

Hey Rita,
You are doing an awsome job. We are about the same on the weight loss. You are loosing. That is all that matters. I figure I am loosing 15 lbs a month. What is wrong with that.... NOTHING!!!!.
Topic: RE: The first 6 months
I haven't been around in so long. I've been busy with life. I'm frustrated with my weight loss beyond belief. I was hoping to lose 100 by 6 months but as of today I've lost exactly 80. I am not eating the way that I should and not excercising so its my own fault but that is just who I am frustrated with..myself. Grrr. I have three more days until my official six months so I am hoping I will drop a few more pounds before then as aunt flow just left.
I really need some good motivation to start exercising. I am going to go to a workout at the school (i'm a teacher now) on Mon. and Wed. so that will at least be something every week. I need to take the time every day for excer. but I don't don't know where to find it!
Sounds like everyone else is doing really well! Keep it up! I started at 311 and am now 231.
