I had the flu a few weeks ago during some of my scheduled pre-op work. I told my surgeon what was going on and he rescheduled my appointments to right before my surgery date as late as he could push them to try and give me time to get better. It took me a solid week of feeling horrible and I felt a bit better. I went and saw my surgeon and he said I'd be good to go by surgery date so no problem. I say just let him know what's going on and he'll let you know what to do. It would be hard to postpone surgery...but you don't want to make it hard on yourself going in sick or your body still recovering. I hope you have a speedy recovery from your sinus infection. I had done everything I was supposed to. I had my hospital bag packed. I had to give a urine sample for a pregnancy test and give more blood yesterday. I washed my belly with an iodine package. I was heading off to sleep....all was according to plan. At 10 PM my surgeon's partner calls me up and says that a lady has a life threatening condition that they need the "A" team for...which is my surgeon and his support group. My surgeon should call today or tommarrow to reschedule. Argh! I know my surgey is an elective procedure...but I have scheduled alot of things around this. My husband is in the army and he took leave for today's date not the end of the week...he is going to put in for an extension that he'll hopefully get. I have been working up to this day since January. I know the lady didn't try and have a life threatening cir****tance to just stress me out...it's just an unfortunate set of cir****tances. The surgeon apologized and said this has never happened as far as he knows and said they will work hard to schedule me in soon. I am having my surgery done on Fort Carson Army Base. I don't have to pay anything...not one dollar. So I really shouldn't complain. I am still fully committed to having this surgery...it's just a bit of the wind is taken out of my sail...so to speak. Now I am going to wait by my phone for my surgeon to call. Everyone wish for me an early reschedule date!

I'm staying with relatives in Denham Springs after surgery. For tonight I'll probably be in New Orleans staying at the hotel attached to my hospital (easier to move to preop/inpatient from there than a 2 hr drive first). SO, anyone who wants to come visit me in the hospital is quite welcome! I will probably be on the 5th floor of the Main Hospital (Ochsner New Orleans). You can just ask for me by name, and I'll post my room number later tommorrow afternoon.

Hey Sherry I will be praying you kick this bug asap! We share the same surgery date and I have been worried about coming down with something too! So far I have been taking an extra vitamin C and drinking tea like crazy...don't know if that would help ya??? God Bless

I was scheduled for the 9th, but the Dr. and his partner apparently had some scheduling conflicts so.. here I go, a day sooner. Scared like crazy of the unknown.. hoping I come out of this all ok.. no complications, minimal pain.. Oh boy.. just plain NERVOUS!!
