Topic: RE: 15 year old---- GOT MY DATE FOR LAPBAND SURGERY!!!!
Congratulations on getting your approval and date. I am still pre-op..........March 12th, but what i did to help me prepare is to start practicing taking very small bites and chew chew chew, and start trying to get at least 64 oz of fluids in per day. You might want to try and get in as much protein as you can within your diet guidelines......it helps with the healing process. I wish the best for you, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. These are a great bunch of people here, who will support you and try to answer any questions you might want to ask. But most important..........follow your Dr's directions. You might also want to check out the lapband forum. they are also a great bunch of people who can answer any questions about the lapband. Best of luck to you and please keep us informed as to how you are doing. Maryellen

Topic: Cost Of Surgery
Just starting to find out about surgery. Wanted to know if anyone knows the general cost of the surgery in Florida in case Insurance won't cover it.

Hi Sharmie, I know how you feel. I have actually been on a pre-op diet for the last 3 weeks (my surgery is the 15th). I was not under any Dr's orders to do so, so I have not denied myself of everything. But I have lost about 15lbs even with the extras. I have a dinner planned for Saturday night (one last big steak and potatoes dinner). I will probably do something chocolate for the dessert. Starting today, my intent is to not divert from the diet, except for that meal, until my sugery. Unless your Dr has put you on a strict diet, or told you NOT to eat a particular food, you may want to give yourself one last taste of something you might not be able to eat. Just my thoughts. Dave

Topic: 4 days to go
Ok I have 4 days to go and I keep thinking there is something special I should eat before Monday (my surgery date) Then I thinkit's a bad idea, because I may as well make my break of all food habits for good. I would love to have a nice breakfast before the surgery with all my favorites, eggs, bacon, grits, fruit and toast... or some seafood (not as breakfast LOL)... Did anyone else have a last supper/breakfast?

I hope it works out this time and it happens. It would really mess things up for us if they do that to me. I can do a week or so but any longer and I probably can't do it until this summer. I hope all goes as scheduled now!! Sherry

Topic: RE: SICK - SURGERY 3/20 - WORRIED
Sorry to hear you might be sick too. They put me on amoxycillan which did really well for me when I had an infection in December. So far getting much better. My biggest issue right now is a cough due to the drainage - tickles the throat and have to cough to clear it up. My instructions say they won't do surgery if I have a cough or cold, so I have to get rid of this. I am sure I should be over that by my surgery though or at least I hope. My hubby also has time off work planned and my in-laws are coming to help with the kids and housework once dh goes back to work. It will all get messed up if they delay it. Let's hope we all get better soon! Sherry

Hi Sherry. I am having the same exact problem. I emailed my surgeon's nurse today to see if they could call me in some antibiotics. I think mine is a sinus infection but it feels like I am starting to get congested too. I just can't let anything delay this surgery for me. I have my Mom coming from Georgia to help out and my hubby is taking vacation... I hope we both feel better soon. What antibiotic did they put you on? Jenifer
