Topic: MAINTENANCE DIET?? almost 7 weeks out--RYN done 1/23/07
Hello.... I had my RNY done on 1/23/07 so Tuesday will make 7 weeks out... I think I am doing good so far....but I would love a "salad" but not sure about lettuce yet.. Does anyone have any suggestions on food ???? I have been sticking with foods like "chili" that goes down really good....the food I found does not agree with me -- no matter how I fix them is "EGGS" (yucky)....and I use to love eggs...kind of weird. Any help with suggestions here would be much appreciated!!! Kathy

Topic: Leaving
I will be leaving in the am to go to Puerto Vallarta! I had my RNY there with Dr Joya 12 months ago!! I will be doing some sightseeing with my hubby, and on Thursday March 15th I will be having an endoscope done with Dr Joya, because I am still having food issues, cant eat anything dense and I throw up just about everyday if I do try to eat. I have lost 100 pounds and the weight loss stopped Oct 2006 - 7 months after the RNY. So hopefully Dr will have some answers and I can have some resolution to this matter. Ill be thinking about you all and OH!!

Steve, Unfortunately, I know nothing about BPD Surgery. You might want to try posting the same question to one of the other discussion sections here on this site, as the March 07 board is focused on people having WLS this month. You can also submit questions to some of the experts at OH. Welcome to our forum- --Dave

Sherry, How are you doing now that a couple more days have gone by? I'm pulling for you to get better before the surgery. Also, I think it is perfectly normal for you to be worried about your surgery date getting pushed back. I am scheduled for Tuesday, and I have been afraid that something will pop up that will force me to postpone my surgery. THAT SAID, I think you have plenty of time to get over this!! --Dave

Topic: RE: Surgery POSTPONED!!!! - ARGH!
You are not wrong to be UPSET! I'm scheduled for Tuesday, and if that happened to me I'd want to string somebody up by their toes from a tree. That is very NOT cool for them to change the date mid-stream like that. As far as I'm concerned MONEY has nothing to do with it! I have to admire your positive attitude! --Dave

Nate- Congrats on your surgery date!!! I browsed your profile, and was glad to see you are holding strong to your dreams. All of us on here have awesome goals. The nice thing about being 15 is that your dreams can change as much as you want. Life is out there for you to enjoy!!! Make sure you keep us updated on your progress, I just got my insurance approval a few weeks ago, and share in your excitement! I'm doing the RNY on Tuesday, and my wife is scheduled for surgery on March 27th. Dave

Topic: RE: Daily Thread----MARCH 07 TRAIN
Rita-- Off we go on the March 07 Train!!! As you are aware, both my wife, Jodell, and I are scheduled for this month. My date is the 13th, and Jodell's is the 27th. All of us soon to be BIG LOSERS need to stick together!!!! I have now been on the pre-operative diet now for almost 2 weeks. I can't tell you how tough it's been, especially at night to stick on this diet. I am hoping that it is going to help me put in the right direction. A coworker of mine had no preop diet required. He went on a big binge right before the surgery, and gained 35 pounds. Now post-op, he wishes he would have been better behaved, as it would have not only helped him with his transition after surgery. He also feels he would be 35 pounds closer to his goal weight now. Also, I know how it can seem like forever for those last weeks to go by. I had originally planned for a Feb 20th date, but was pushed back due to insurance by 3 weeks!

Topic: RE: 4 days to go
I'm scheduled on Tuesday. My doctor requires a 2 week pre-operative diet which a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, and one 500 calorie meal for dinner. I've lost somewhere between 10-15 pounds on this diet, but have also been kind of miserable, especially at night. I can relate to your desire to splurge on one last meal. I can't help but think how strange it is that different doctors seem to have such different pre-surgery requirements for the same surgeries. The other thing I wonder is how close people really go by these pre-operative diets when they find out that so many other offices don't require them. My paperwork indicated that any patient who gains 20 pounds or more before their surgery will not have the surgery performed. I'm hoping the prediet will make it easier to adjust to post-surgery life, but that doesn't make it any easier! --Dave

Topic: RE: GOT A DATE !
WOW, I thought it felt like FOREVER when my insurance took 3 weeks to get my answer back. You are quite a trooper for sticking in there. All the best on monday, I'm going in on Tuesday! However, with lap band you'll be out of the hospital sooner!
