Topic: MARCHers and goal!
How many a man has thrown up his hands at a time when a little more effort, a little more patience would have achieved success?.....Elbert Hubbard Do you need to have a little more effort...a little more patience...to achieve your final success? I certainly feel like I need to make a little more effort...maybe a little more patience...to finally get to my goal and maintain such. I certainly need to make a little more effort to exercise...I need to make a little more effort to eat more protein...I need to have a little more patience to realize it is going to take a little more time to reach my goal. How about you? You know that old saying..."never put off till tomorrow what you can do today"??? Well I am unfortunately practicing just that. I still don't feel good because of this cold I have been fighting so I have no plans to exercise today - other than just the normal walking I get in. I am going to try and eat all protein today...I have put off till tomorrow or the next day or next to start the 5-day pouch test. I am pretty much a failure today, however, I am not throwing up my hands!!!! AND I am going to drink sufficien****er and I will take all my vitamins so 2 out of 4 ain't bad! So unlike me - be successful today...make a little more effort and have a little more patience and success will surely follow closely behind! Hugs to all...Barbara

Topic: Staying Successful, give us your answers Marchers
I meant to post this a LONG time ago, but forgot. I got this during the WLS retreat I went to. Some good ideas for members who need to get back on track or the ones who find ourselves going back to old ways. Staying successful * Review your original goals in seeking to lose weight. If you never did before, write them down today. * Remind yourself of things you wanted to do again, the activities you have dreamed of participating in with your loved ones, the goals you had set for yourself. Review these every day for the next week.. * Review what you are eating and drinking. Begin or resume your food journal. Make changes to replace a high calorie item with a lower calorie, protein based item. Make a food plan to use them on challenging days. * Find/get that pedometer and re-dedicate yourself to using it every day. Wear it for a week, find your baseline number of steps and make it a goal to increase your daily steps by 2000 a day! * Brush your teeth at 7pm every night this week and only have a glass of water after brushing your teeth. * Starting to snack while cooking? Chew gum to help fight the urge to put something in your mouth until you sit down at the table to eat your meal! Time for the interaction Marchers, questions for everyone... Submit your pre-op goals were (why did you want to lose weight): Write what your goals are now: What is your most common "SHOULD" statement? Rewrite that "SHOULD" comment and keep it in memory this week even if it includes writing it and posting on your refrigerator, computer desk, car dashboard, whatever it takes. Identify one goal you'd like to reach this year. List steps you are taking (or need to take) to reach that goal!

Dinner: Went to Indian, Had about a 1/4 cup if that of rice, with matar paneer, meat from one chicken leg and some lentil soup, about 1/4 c. Didn't do as well on water so far. Did about 32 oz. Will work on a bottle or two tonight. One set of vitamins to go. Will do my elliptical tonight while watching American Idol.

WHY I FIRED MY SECRETARY Last week was my birthday and I didn't feel very well waking up on that morning. I went downstairs for breakfast hoping my wife would be pleasant and say, "Happy Birthday!", and possibly have a small present for me. As it turned out, she barely said good morning, let alone " Happy Birthday." I thought... Well, that's marriage for you, but the kids... They will remember. My kids came bouncing down stairs to breakfast and didn't say a word. So when I left for the office, I felt pretty low and somewhat despondent. As I walked into my office, my secretary Jane said, "Good Morning Boss, and by the way Happy Birthday ! " It felt a little better that at least someone had remembered. I worked until one o'clock , when Jane knocked on my door and said, "You know, It's such a beautiful day outside, and it is your Birthday, what do you say we go out to lunch, just you and me." I said, "Thanks, Jane, that's the greatest thing I've heard all day. Let's go !" We went to lunch. But we didn't go where we normally would go. She chose instead at a quiet bistro with a private table. We had two martinis each and I enjoyed the meal tremendously. On the way back to the office, Jane said, "You know, It's such a beautiful day... We don't need to go straight back to the office, Do We ?" I responded, "I guess not. What do you have in mind ?" She said, "Let's drop by my apartment, it's just around the corner." After arriving at her apartment, Jane turned to me and said, " Boss, if you don't mind, I'm going to step into the bedroom for just a moment. I'll be right back." "Ok." I nervously replied. She went into the bedroom and, after a couple of minutes, she came out carrying a huge birthday cake ... Followed by my wife, my kids, and dozens of my friends and co-workers, all singing "Happy Birthday". And I just sat there... On the couch... Naked.

Hello all, Put me down for 25.5 miles for the week. Lots of snow here, not like some areas, but lots for us. I also took a day off to see my mom. It was very worth it. Thanks for leading us to the the ocean. Take care, Rick
