Walked my first mile

I walked my first mile last night (with my 4 dogs!). Before surgery, I had driven around and found a good route. Couldn't possibly have walked it then. But I did it today. I've been working up to it. Honestly, I hate walking but the weather was beautiful here in NM. Just a little breeze. Cool. I might learn to enjoy it. Naaahhh! But it's what I'm supposed to do. The dogs LOVE it. Makes me want to walk just to please them. Wonder if I'll ever do it again??!! Huggs, Heidi

You better! Maybe I should trade my cats in for dogs. I have so many hills that I don't make it very far. However, I have a friend at work who forces me to go to a walking/biking/skating path and she makes me walk at her pace (even though she's 15 years younger and 6 inches taller than I am). Today, I'm going to dig out a aerobic tape and do at least half an hour. Although I think running up and down the cellar stairs to do laundry should count for something. Keep up the good work. It will also help with the blahs. Cheryl

Hi Heidi, Good for you! I can't say that I have done a mile yet. Today I have a hugh backache...feels like it did when I woke up after surgery. My own fault as I was cleaning this morning and never know when to quit!! LOL You keep up that mile routine with the dogs and you will be watching that scale go down quickly. I should follow my own advise! Keep up the good work!

Heidi! That's great! I love walking outside when the weather's as gorgeous as it has been lately. I can't do a mile all at once, and break it up for now. I'm up to doing a half a mile at a time. I have a treadmill which is my "no excuses" back-up plan, and I love having it here. I'm hoping as I lose weight that my back & knees will let me do more than a 1/2 mile at a time! DEFINITELY KEEP IT UP, POUCH SISTA! Kathy

One mile!!! That's fantastic!! Walking with dogs is great! Trust me - they'll REMIND you to walk them again soon. My dog LOVES walks and about has a heart attack dancing around and jumping around as I put my walking shoes on and put the leash on him and such. He gets so excited. LOL

Thats great Heidi! I know I used to hate excersize but as I have been losing the weight it has become a little easier for me! I don't know about you but I tend to feel better after I have gone for a walk or done some kind of excersize. I hope if you decide not to do the walking that you find something that you enjoy! Good luck to you Bonnie

Hello Heidi, I haven't exercised hardly at all and I know that's not good. I went to Curves on the 10th it was my birthday and decided to join. I will go 3x's a week and do 30min cardio exercises because I know if I don't my skin will start hanging terribly. I also know that if I add another tool to this one I will lose weight better and be in better health as well. The cost is $29.00 a month which I thought was wonderful. Also no men allowed, ever. No mirrors either. They keep track of your measurements as well as weight. So if you're not losing weight due to muscle build up you should at least be losing inches. Hope you have a Curves around your area to at least check it out. Good Luck, Deborah W.

Hi Deborah, How is curves going? I hope you're getting there. I walked a mile a second time this week. Wasn't ever sure if I'd do it again, but I did. The next day, I walked part of that mile. Just went to the park, not around it. I'm just encouraging you to keep it up. I know when you're depressed it's hard to do anything. Hugggs, Heidi
