The stillman isn't bad....I love eggs and meat. I can eat 6 ozs no problems too...and I finally found the water that I will drink and get in enough of...Propel fitness water in flavors! There are some carbs and some sugar...but I figure the advantages to drinking 64-80 ozs of water with carbs is better than not getting enough fluids at all. I have lost 3 pounds now in the last 3 days, so I think my plateau is busting. I just want to pass 50.... Sally

slower looser here... I lost alot at first but each month gets slower and slower. Its so true Wendy that the bad things are easier to eat. I find myself really struggling to stay away from those things. This month I have been at a stand still. I know my profile says I lost 12 pounds but its not accurate. I have different readings and I gained a few pounds!!! yikes!!! The month before I only lost 9 pounds. I guess thats alright though. 9 pounds gone is 9 pounds gone but it is VERY frustrating because we really do NOT eat alot of food and majority of my food are very good choices! Plus I have been exercising and hoping the weight would fly off but its not. I did drop a few pounds the 1st week of working out but gained a couple back. Im up down up down on this wicked plateau!!! I upped my protein and water and still cant get off of it. It makes you start to feel like you arent going to be able to succeed and that you are going to fail. I've felt this before and just hope that I start loosing again soon. Its definitely getting harder and I can eat more and have the cravings and such so its still a struggle. Well heres to us that we have done so well so far and there is more to come!!! cheers! Elizabeth M

I would love to lose 9 pounds in a month, Elizabeth! The first month I lost 23 pounds and the second month I already dropped to 5 then 7 then 6.....how about that for S-L-O-W. I am doing well now on Stillman diet...think I may lose 5-10 this month.... Sally

I decided not to be a slave to my scale. I only weigh in the doctors. But i do think i am stuck right now, i have been in 18's for a month or so now, and i can get into some 16's, i just feel stuck. But concidering when this started, i was in a 26/28. So to go down that many sizes in 4 1/2 months is great. My friend Jamie had this done 3 years ago, and she was in a 26/28 when she started and now in a size 8. She said she was stuck at a size 12 for alomost a year and BAM!! she dropped to a size 8 all of a sudden. I think everyone is doing great!! Keep up the great work.

Wow, Tanya, that is great news about your friend...I guess anything can happen in these next 2 years as our bodies adjust. I would love to eventually be a size 8...I think it may be possible too, as I am a 12 now, with a few 10s and even at slow losing.....I will wait! Good luck to you too! Sally

I had a checkup recently and while my surgeon is okay with my progress and he knows I'm doing what I'm supposed to here is what he said. On average in the first 3-4 months a person should lose about 1/3 of their excess weight. For me, my excess weight was (377-150 = 227 lbs!) so a third would have been about 70 pounds and that was a little more than what I had lost. To date I've lost 77 pounds from surgery date and 84 from my highest. However considering how much I've had to lose I consider this slow. I had major struggles for about a week or two with cravings and such and realizes that I had been overindulging in carbs. They truly are my enemy. If I eat too much and too little protein then I tend to slack on my vitamins and my carb cravings seems irresistable. When I cut back on carbs then I seem to have sooo much more control. The things I'm learning about myself! So recently I've going back on a "regular" routines. I have a blended protein shake for breakfast and another for lunch. If I get hungry in between and need to eat something solid I eat jerky. Then I let myself have a normal dinner since this is the time when my family tends to eat together and we often go out or barbeque or something. I do allow myself some carbs at dinner - bites of potato or corn or something. No breads - that is a rare treat because it doesn't fill me up for long and I always want to eat more! My other downfall is I'm a HUGE fan of "coffee drinks" - must be a west coast thing. Since its summer I've been lovingggg granitas but was so afraid of the calories. I found a sugar free, low carb granita mix at a local store (made by Big Train) and for my protein drink in the morning I add a scoop of this as well. MMMMMMM! Cures my craving for the coffee drinks and its delicious! I also use Carb Control milk instead of normal milk. I've decided this is the way my body wants to go (slowly) and as long as I keep going down - that is just fine with me. Lissa 394 (high)/387 (surgery)/310/150 (I can't wait to get out of the 300's) BTW the lowest adult weight I've ever been at since 16 is 284 so only 26 more pounds and I'll be at my lowest weight ever!

Thanks for the formula, since I was a lightweight starting at 208 and having 70-80 pounds to lose...I am well over the 1/3rd...so then I feel better. I agree that carbs are really the enemy when you want to LOSE--not so much an enemy at maintaining good health...so we can someday enjoy them again when we are maintaining....good luck to you. Sally
