How much can you eat at onetime?

I have trouble getting down more than 2-3 ounces of food. Sometimes a little more if I am dealing with liquids. I just had dinner with a friend who can't believe I live on no more than I eat. Last weekend I went to a Red's ballgame(by the way room to spare in the seat!) with my Dad, Mom, and 22 year old brother. My Dad is worried I will starve to death. I even said that it is amazing how little it takes to keep you alive. My little brother(who is also no light weight) replied,"You can't live on that. You have to remember that just like me you have a reserve to live off of. That is why you are dropping weight so fast. If you were only relying on what you are eating for your caloric intake, you would be maintaining your weight." He's right! I'm a nurse and this had not even occurred to me. Rejoice in our new found lack of appetite! From what I understand it will return fast enouigh.

What I can eat at one time varies. I don't measure it out or anything, but I can eat half to 3/4 of a small hamburger. There are times that I eat more than others. I still don't eat a whole sandwhich. I don't drink when I eat either. I know I couldn't eat 19 oz though.

I can eat a whole banana but I fill VERY full. One half with a little peanut butter is better. I can eat a lot more now than I could in the beginning. I think either 1. My pouch has streached. or 2. My pouch is bigger than most. I don't measure but I hope to see more on this topic. Robin -70!

For me it varies from day to day. But, for the most part I can only eat 2-3 oz at a time or it off too the bathroom. I have never had a problem with dumping it's just the oppset end. If I eat more then 3 oz I get sick. I can not eat bread if I do it sick city. Nothing still seems good. I start to cook dinner and by the time I fini**** does not sound good any more. I drink mostly water and have nector protien drinks. the protien drinks stay with me well. Mary

I was able to eat more than I thought I should be able to for the last two weeks or so - but then for the last three days I can barely eat anything. I think it comes and it goes. I do think that you eat more when you drink - maybe the liquid flushes out the food from your stomach? But I remember pre-op I could eat an appetizer, salad, whole dinner, and dessert - and I'd easily also drink at least two full jumbo glasses of something ****d tea, soda, beer, whatever) with it all. I remember that I would order the next drink before the current one was empty, to make sure I'd have it in time and not have to wait for the waitress to come back. My doctor's instructions are not to eat with meals (last drink >30 min before and first >30 min after). I think there's something to it, and I've been telling even my 'normal' friends about it. A couple of them are trying to limit what they drink when they're eating now. Good luck. Jen

I have always been able to eat more than most people. I always stopped at 2 ounces but could have eaten more in the beginning. Now if it is soft foods I can eat 8-12 ozs. If it is dense protein (meat mostly) I can eat 5-6 ounces. My doctor said that is normal after the pouch heals and I think I was a quick healer. It may stretch some, yes, but it actually "grows" a little also. But I still have vomitted 3 times and it really didn't have anything to do with quantity...so that part is still a mystery why you do and why you don't. Sally
