Stuck scale

I realize that we will have plateaus and I did expect them, just not this early. I have not lost any weight in 6 weeks. I am thrilled to be down 70 pounds I just am worried that this is it. I saw a dietician this week and she said my menus were good, but suggested I cut back on calories and increase exercise (I could have saved the $100 for that answer!). I have added 15 minutes a day on the Nordac Track. I hope that this will improve matters. I see my surgeon next week. I am only getting on the scale on Sundays so I am not sure if this week will mirror the last 6 but my fingers and toes are crossed. And I don't want any cheese with this whine!! (Well maybe lowfat cheese!) Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi, Jane - Hang in there - my surgeon told me that this early out, if we are stuck with weight, we are probably still losing inches. Have you been tracking that, too? It helps you still see progress when weight loss stops for a while. It sounds like you are doing everything right, so just hang in there. Your body is probably just catching up to your terrific weightloss and will start over again soon. Dee

Jane, you are not alone. I have been going through the exact same problem (and we had surgery on the same day - weird, huh?). I was stuck on a 68lb weight loss for weeks. I was bummed out and stayed off the scale because it was driving me nuts. The only thing that has seemed to budge my plateau is pumping up my protein. I have added extra protein drinks and a new bar that I found that has 30 grams of protein (Premier Nutrition Protein Eight). I am now getting at least 80 grams of protein per day and I have finally started to lose again. Good luck and hang in there! Melissa

Jane, we had surgery the same date, I have lost 78 lbs. -- then GAINED 3 back -- so now at a total loss of 76 lbs. I have not lost weight in several weeks, thought I was losing again and then gained the 3 lbs. back. I am exercise, I'm hardly eating anything...the only thing I tried to do differently was add some "good" carbs. to my eating because I have been so constipated, my system is now relying on drugs (Colace) to help alleviate that problem. I am very concerned that I've lost all that I'm going to lose, I am really scared. I just don't know what to do. If I eat nothing but protein and a bit of veggies, I can't go to the bathroom. If I add fiber foods...like 100% WW bread or oatmeal, I gain weight. I absolutely relate to what you're saying and am so confused about what to do. Take care, wish I could offer you words of encouargement but I am so discouraged myself. Maureen

Yes, we are in a predicament now aren't we. I have been doing the one pound down, half pound up, half a pound down, one pound up for so long I also fear that "this is all that there is". I see the surgeon on Thursday and hope he can offer words of wisdom. I need to walk away from the carbs, I know. I have found that I don't get too bound up but I take Benefiber almost everyday. It dissolves smoothly in a protein shake and my surgeon said it was OK. They perscribed Colace when I first came home after surgery but I never have tried it. Try to remember that this WILL settle out eventually. I am going to re-measure myself today to see if anything is happening there. Thanks for the encouragement.
