Rob update

Hi everyone, Sorry to have neglected you lately. Rob has been busy doing a "tour" of local hospitals. He spent two weeks in our local hospital in Anacortes. That was great because I got to spend a lot of time with him. I took the 4th of July week off from work. On July 8 he transferred to Bellingham to an inpatient physical rehab unit. He will be there until July 27. I call it "boot camp" - he has intensive physical and occupational therapy three times a day. He is making great improvements. He can walk with a walker now. He is stronger and more mobile. His progress has been wonderful to watch. This place is less hospital-like than a regular hospital. I brought our two dogs last Sunday to visit. Twice we went outside with Rob in the wheelchair, me pushing, and the dogs pulling. That was fun. This Sunday our "field trip" is to go for a car ride. A continuing problem is the bed sore that will need plastic surgery. If it weren't for that Rob would be well on his way to recovery. He is getting so much stronger I don't think this surgery will set him back much. After July 27 he will go to his mom's house. Our house is a split level with lots of stairs. His mom's house is all on one level. He will stay there until the surgery. He will be so glad to get out of hospitals!! Every day when I talk to him he sounds more and more like himself. I'm going up tonight to visit him after work (it's about a 45 minute drive, lots better than going to Seattle). He orders me a guest tray and we have dinner together. His room has a very nice view. About the weight loss - Rob weighed 290 when he went in, I would say he weighs about 220 now. The bed weighs him, but it weighs all the pillows and blankets too. So that's at least 70 pounds. His face looks great - you can see his cheek bones! We're getting closer to the day Rob can post here himself! Kat

Kat, Thanks for the good news about Rob. I check this board everyday for a Rob update. I was beginning to get worried, but hoped that it just meant that you were busy helping Rob with his recovery. That's so cool that they let you bring your dogs, pet therapy can often motivate where humans fail. Critters just don't take no for an answer!!! Keep us posted about his upcoming PS, so we can cover him in prayer. GREAT NEWS!!! Happy thoughts, Va Was/Am/Wannabe 232/169/130
