Hey all!! I had my Lap RNY on March 16, and I have lost 76 pounds so far. I still have about 62 pounds to lose to hit my goal. I'm feeling pretty good and trying to stay busy with swimming, walking and gardening for exercise, and of course my husband and four children. Do any of you have trouble eating banana's They make me feel very bloated, even a tiny little bite. I am also having problems eating cantaloupe, and watermelon. Any suggestions on how to get some iron naturally? Other foods to try? I was wondering if anyone else shares my surgery date that would like to keep in touch? Compare notes, encourage each other etc. E-mail me if you are interested. Thanks, take care. Cyndi

Hi-- I share your surgery date, but had open...but I also don't eat bananas much anymore...something just doesn't seem right. All other fruits are fine so far even ones with skins. But darn it....I love bananas too. I can eat them blended better but I still feel it. Sally

Cyndi - You're doing so well - congrats! I *almost* share your surgery date. I'm down around 40 pounds (I quit getting on the scale - I was driving myself crazy). I don't have any problems eating bananas - in fact, they're the one fruit I eat consistently. I love 'em w/ peanut butter and pecans (wierd, I know!). Watermelon doesn't do well with me for some reason - leaves me bloated and feeling yucky. I'm also anemic (recent blood tests show) and I'm looking for ways to get some iron in. I eat spinach (in salads) and can even down liver if needed, but I cannot take iron supplements - they do a number on my tummy. Keep up the great job! -Wendy

Hi fellow 3/16 er! You are doing great!! I also had Lap RNY. I'm down 70.5 lbs with another 100 till goal. As far as eating fruit - no problems here. I just can't take some of the skin, so I peel my peaches and am careful with grapes and blueberries. Watermelon, honeydew, and cantalope are my staples. I don't do chicken or turkey well, but beef is great - go figure! I'd love to keep in touch to compare notes, and we can always use encouragement, so feel free to contact me directly. Take care, and keep up the great work! mgm -70.5

I had open RNY 3/16 and last count was -70. A lot of food goes right through me so I have been taking Imodine Chewables. (The doctor claims my main problem is having the gallbladder removed with my wls surrgery.) My one and only experience with a banana was awful. Therefore I do not want to try that again for a very long time. It made me dump. Of course I had a PB&J last night and it happened then too. This was low sodium and sugar free with no alchohol sugars in them. Chicken is my main stay of meats. I have tried some ground beef and other soft beef recipes but not the streak grilled yet. I can easily tolerate some seafood but since I do not like a lot of different seafood, it is mainly shrimp cooked a variety of ways. I have been told to eat what I feel like eating. Veggies are really good and fruits are heavenly, I just cannot eat much.

Hi ladies, I had Open RNY on 3/15/04, down 60-62 lbs, depending on the day, but kinda bummed that I've only lost 5 lbs in the last month. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled with what I've lost so far, but just wondering what happened this last month? Am I eating too much, not enough, did starting Curves two weeks ago, going 3-4 times a week have this effect? I can basically eat anything without an adverse reaction, well cept pineapple I tried the other day & it went thru me. I generally have no problem with sugar and sometimes I wonder where that feeling "full" has gone. Oh and I'm losing my hair now big time , just started the Biotin, 1500 mg, hope it helps! Congratulations on your success girls, its great and I'm so happy for you! Hey Wendy, my surgery twin, glad to hear your doing well, and Marla you were only about 20 minutes from me going to the Phila Zoo, wish we could've scheduled a get together to meet face to face. Take care, Wendy 275/214-216/150
