Donating Clothes That Are Too Big

I had every intention of bundling up my clothes that are now too big and taking them to the clothing exchange that they have here in Phoenix for wls post-ops. As I got everything into bags, I remembered the Sojourner Center here. It's a women's shelter for victims of domestic abuse. They are always in need of clothing in larger sizes, especially clothes that can be worn to go on job interviews. I'm even taking a leap of faith and donating all of my winter clothes with the presumption that anything I have now will not fit when the temperatures finally drop around here. If you're not sure of what to do with your old clothes, look for a women's shelter in your area. Guys, there are plenty of rescue missions that could use men's clothing. Help someone get back on their feet. Connie

Great idea, Connie. I have one of my good friends coming over to go through my clothes that no longer fit me. She's trying to put her daughter through college and is in financial straits. Once she's picked through my stuff, I'm donating all the leftovers to the women and children's shelter in my area. I do the same thing w/ my kids' clothes that they outgrow (by leaps and bounds). And, not to make light of the situation, it IS a tax deduction, which always helps! See ya- Wendy

I have also given some of my clothes to a shelter. We had a drive at work right after I got back and my clothes were starting to be too big to wear. I have also given some clothes to 4 other people that go to my doctor and had the surgery but were larger than I. AND I STILL HAVE MORE TO FIND HOMES FOR. I have a friend that is to come see me later this summer and I have saved clothes for her as well. I did not realize what a "clothes horse" I was until I started to go through them. Now the sad part is I have few choices of what to wear for now and I am trying to hold back on buying new clothes. It is time for me to hit the used clothing shops. I have been lucky for others to share a few items with me but they are getting too big now too.
