Anyone tried eDiets?
Hi Everyone!
Hope y'all had a happy and safe 4th of July.
Just wondering if anyone out there has tried eDiets (or any other online diet program for that matter). I'm looking for some structure to my eating, hoping that it will help me manage my food intake (or lack thereof) better. eDiets looks interesting. It takes your personal preferences and offers you a type of diet that will work best for you. However, they don't offer a diet for post WLS patients (although I will suggest that they do!). When I say I'm looking for structure, what I mean is that I'm looking for something to come to me each week with a list of suggested meals or meal replacements and an excercise regimen. What I REALLY need is a swift kick in the pants to get my butt in gear, but that's a whole 'nother story!
Anyway - just curious if anyone has any experience with online diet programs. Your thoughts, opinions and suggestions are always welcome, my friends!

Wendy,
I did E-Diets years ago. It was OK, but at that time, it certainly wouldn't have worked for a wls diet. One of my staff has been on it since January and he's lost about 50 pounds. He follows it religiously.
I think there's an Atkins diet on line that might fit a little better.
I might be able to help with suggestions for exercize, but I'm clueless about the meals. More often than not, I head out the door with a piece of cheese rolled in a piece of turkey and call it a meal.

Were there any nutritionists associated with your surgery? I did an extra visit with one of those, who wrote out a plan for me (this was pre-surgery but I don't see why it wouldn't work now). We talked about my lifestyle and former habits and she tailored it. I could then check in by email (it's that frequent contact that helps). You could always post your day's menu here and then check back in at night. I'm sure whatever you were planning to eat on that day could benefit a lot of lurkers. I know that it can work to have SOMEONE ELSE write it out and then give it to you like homework. And then to check in to say you did it is a powerful thing, keeps you going.
Just an alternative suggestion in case you can't find a tool online to help you. The menu suggestions probably won't work on most of the online programs but Weigh****chers has some excellent tools for motivation and tracking what goes wrong. I bought Susan Maria Leach's cookbook, too. I'm just getting started with all that though, still going off my surgeon's list and keeping it simple.
But I know what you mean about structure, it can be very effective.
