Trouble sleeping?
Is anyone having trouble sleeping? I didn't have sleep apnea to begin with, so I don't think I have it now, 60+ pounds lighter. But I find myself waking up several times a night.
Anybody else? I'm trying to figure out what it could be - surgery's the biggest change in the last few months, everything else in the house and my meds have stayed the same.

I have, but I think it's to be expected. Our bodies have changed a lot and I know when I was on Atkins my body needed a LOT less sleep than it did when I wasn't on it. I could sleep 6 hours and feel great all day. Now it is similar, but like you said, sometimes I will wake up periodically. Some days are worse than others, but the difference from when I was just doing Atkins is that now I tire in my day if I don't sleep much and I think that has to do with the low-volume of food intake. These are just my theories though - *****ally knows for sure. Can't even get doctors to agree on most things wls related!
Generally right now I am sleeping 4-6 hours a day, and perhaps on the weekend I'll get a nap. I don't do so hot with 4, but 6 is not bad for me. When I do this, I find myself wanting to get at least 1 day on my weekend where I get closer to 8.

HI,
I haven't had anyproblems sleeping at all. in fact I sleep much
better than I did befor surgury. Maybe you should check with your
doc. maybe you don't need quite so many meds now and you should
cut back on them. they might be causing the problem. See what
you can stop taking after 3 months. I don't take hardly anyof the meds
I was on before surgury and I was on a lot of them for diabetesw & High
blood pressure.

My sleep has been terrible since surgery. I had open rny 3/17/04 and have not slept more then 6 hours in a night along with wakeing up every two hours. I never sleep past 5am and do get tired out during the day. My surgeon said it was from the surgery and will eventually I will work back into a better sleep pattern. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Hi Jen,
After the first month or so my sleeping has evened out. I used to wake up 2-3 times a night pre-op, but now I rarely wake up at all. I do need a lot less sleep than I used to need though. I do periodically go through a week where I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep until about an hour before I need to get up. That typically lasts only a week, and then I get back into the usual "sleep all night" pattern again.
If it lasts for more than a week, I'd ask the doc.
