Is this normal? I have to force myself to eat. My weight loss is very slow.

One of the things that I have learned so far on this journey is that there is no longer any meaning to the word "normal". I think what you are experiencing is not abnormal. If it weren't for the fact that I have a 7 year old, I would have a really hard time in that I never want to eat. She reminds me when she's hungry. I have absolutely no desire to eat anything, so I keep to my standard cottage cheese - it goes down easily and I do like it. I only eat because I know I have to, and do need to watch that my cals don't drop too low. My doc wants me to get 600 cals a day, and some days I'm at 400. That's why the loss slows down. The body starts going into starvation mode if it does not get enough, and weight loss slows down. When I get closer to 600 cals I typically lose more. Typically, I'm losing about 3-4 lbs / week. mgm -65

It is very normal to have not appetite. Just be sure to drink at least 64 oz of fluid a day and drink 3-4 protein shakes a day (3-4 hrs apart) and also take vitamins and calcium citrate. If you do not put the protein and fluids in, the weight goes no where... VAL

this is sooo true! I can really tell on days when I fail to get all my fluids or protein.

Sharon Try to put yourself on a schedule eat 2 to 4 oz of something (mostly protien) at least 3 time a day. even if you don't fini**** at least try. The cottage chees is fine, but try an eat 3 meals a day and don't forget the water. Its very important. Are you taking vitimins too?? Keep your health, your appetitie will come back and then you will be a little scared at times as you can all of sudden start eating again. Good luck your doing just fine,. 3-4 lbs a week is pretty average. Could you do that before surgury. I no I couldn't. Marilyn the bearlady (75)llbs

I think we are all different. I can eat just about everything and I am always hungry. I've lost 51 pounds in 3.5 months and am delighted. I keep to about 600-800cal. per day. I am looking forward to losing the rest. I wish I had to force myself to eat. Louise

I definately don't have a problem with my appetite. I have been able to eat just about anything. I still have a problem with beef. My main craving right now is V-8 Juice! I can't seem to get enough of it. I have lost 88 pounds and am feeling so much better. I agree, I think everyone is going to have different experiences.
