Benefits of weight loss?

Besides the number of pounds we're losing, what are some other ways YOU've noticed your weight loss (besides another obvious - the way our clothes are looser fitting)? For example, I've noticed my towel overlaps a lot further than it used to when I wrap it around me. And, thirty-five pounds off of EACH knee makes walking a whole lot easier! I've now thrown out every single stitch of clothing I owned before. I'm still a higher size than I want to be before I buy any new clothing that isn't temporary BUT I don't need to go to specialty stores. I almost cried the first time I shopped in a regular store. I had to go home because I felt confused. But I adjusted QUICK and still have to pinch myself when I go in the store and I belong there. I have noticed more interest from more people, especially middle-aged men at my gym. It isn't obnoxious, it's a little disconcerting (and I'm not in the market), but I do have a sense of being visible to others again. Sales ladies speak to me and are interested in selling to me. Today I'm going out and, perhaps too much information, getting rid of my old ugly bras. WOW, I hated them. My knees are way better, too, and I'm even injured at the moment. I've had the strength to completely clean and re-organize and paint my house (hiring that part), which will take all summer, and it was a seven-year mess, believe me. It's almost like it and my body are one and are both emerging from being overwhelmed. I feel a bit like I'm standing at the end of a diving board about to plunge. That's a little scary but the view up here is lovely. Gano

I also can shop in the "Normal" stores just barely (size 18), but I keep winding up in Lane Bryant, I think I'm scared of the "normal" stores. Go figure. I fit into the seats at the movies better. In fact my DH and I are going to make a day of movies today (Dodge Ball, and Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban in Imax). I can cross my legs, and not just cross my legs but do it under my desk at work. I have been on a cleaning out and throwing out binge for the last few weeks, even cleanned out the pantry and freezer this weekend. I now have my own shelf in each to put things that I can eat. I can walk and exercise and actually love it and not run out of breath. I feel I am perceived as more equal to others now and can feel confident about myself (my own pre WLS issues) I have been hit on a few times (married though) I am a waitress and can be on my feet for a double shift on Saturdays for up to 12 hours and not feel like I am dying. I will have to get all new clothes for winter/fall and am only a little sad about this, I had a very stylish wardrobe. I can wear short skirt and you can see my calf muscle defination...I actually asked for a bike for my anniversary and have love it so far. I started plaing on a volleyball league again........I HAVE MY LIFE BACK!!!!! I could go on forever about the changes 58# have made and I do look forward to what -58# more will do for me

No more shortness of breath I really believe my migraines have improved - maybe nonexistent now Going to Six Flags and lasting all day Taking my kids to water parks and feeling like I belong And probably my favorite...people actually getting their arms wrapped around me when giving me hugs! I'm with you, Karel! I've never been, but I'd like to try it.
