I'm Shedding

Well folks, the day has arrived. I have to finally admit that I'm losing hair. For the last couple of weeks, I've been blaming the animals everytime I found a stray hair here and there. It's me. It's not coming out by handfuls, but everywhere I turn, there's a stray hair. There's one on my keyboard as I type. They're at the bottom of the tub, in the sink, on my pillow. I'd better not have anyone over for dinner for a couple of months. Hair in the food... Yuk! Connie - Call me Baldie

Yeah, me too. And I have been good all along about protein and vitamins. I just notice mine in my comb though--it is not noticeable (yet). I guess this is the price of thinness--so worth it! Joy -50 lbs

Oh Connie, I was noticing it more and more as well, and I finally gave in and had 10 inches cut off the length, hoping it would take some of the stress off my head and hair. I think I am still shedding, but it doesn't seem so bad. The good news is my hair looks extremely healthy, so maybe most of it is in my imagination. Hugs, Mo

Connie, Are you taking a flaxseed oil supplement? My shedding cut down a lot when I started the flaxseed oil. Minimum of 2000mg a day. My nails are hard as bricks and even my hair stylist says my hair is growing very, very fast. Va

Va.. I bought some flaxseed oil at GNC, but they are huge softgel capsules. I don't think I should try to swallow these. They are full of liquid so I can't cut them up. Is this what you use or is it in another form? I noticed just a few days ago when I put mousse in my hair that my fingers are covered with hair. I take my multi-vits, calcuim, Liquid B12 and iron. Guess I should of been taking something more for hair Debbie The Shy One

I fussed to my doc about the size of the flaxseed oil capsules. He said not to worry that they melt at body temperature. But if I was still worried to take them with hot coffee or hot tea. You will see a difference when you add at least 2000 mg of flaxseed oil, 4000 if your in a crisis. Get started NOW!!! Good luck, Va

You can buy plain flax seeds at a health food store, put them in a coffee bean grinder so that they get broken up and then sprinkle them on salads, in yogurt, etc. The large gelcaps probably won't hurt you because the gelatin melts very quickly, but I would check with your doctor. I do remember my doc saying that gelcaps were fine though.

I haven't tried flaxseed oil, but you can bet the ranch that I'll have some by the time I get home tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion. Connie

I have also noticed more and more hair in my brush. I'm definitely losing hair...sigh. Va...I saw your post about flaxseed oil; Is biotin something that would help also? I'm considering getting my hair cut also, maybe the layering will keep my hair looking full. Good luck all, Karen
