How many carbs per day???
I was wondering how many carbs a day does everyone have a day??
I was told to have 20carbs a meal and 5 aday. Was wondering if that is too many cause the weight is not comming off???
Would love your input on this matter, even tho I know your suppost to do as the doc orders...
Many thanks.... too all
We are supposed to have anywhere from 60 to 100 grams of protein per day. We are only to have 1/2 that many grams of carbs. So if you have 80 grams protein then you only have 40 grams of carbs for the whole day. Personally I can only do about 1/3 carbs to my protein, (that'd be about 60 grams of protein to 20 carbs daily).

Donna,
I no all doc's are diferent on the matter, however, our doc out here
in Las Vegas. we only eat 4 oz three times a day not 4 or 5 only 3
times a day with no snacking in between. We drink at least 64 oz of
water ad a day and don't really count the carbs we eat protien first
then carbs within that 4 oz meal.. It sometimes isn't even 4 oz that i can get down. I had surgury on 3/15 04 and have lost 67 lbs so far. We have these nine rules we follow out this way I wil post them for you, try
it and see what happens with your weight loss.
1. Three meals a day (not FIVE , not two ...THREE)
2. Do not exceed four onces per meal ( two or two & one half should
be enough... when in doubt weigh your food.)
3. Solid foods ) chew foods not soft or liquid foods
4. No Carbonated beverages (EVER) they stretch the pouch
5. At least 30 minutes per meal ( don't inhale your food)
6. Don;t eat while doing anything else ( no distractions be aware
of what you are eating at all times.
7. Liquids first pause then solid foods (don't mis as space is limited
since liquids empty more rapidly than solids drink first then eat. Allow 30 - 45 minutyer after solids before drinking more liquids.
8. YOU are in control of your weight choose foods wisely
9. RENEW YOUR COMMITMENT EVERDAY, NO SUGAR, NO SWEETS
YOU NO WHAT PUT THE WEIGHT ON YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE
STAY AWAY FROM THOSE THINGS.

I do drink protien shakes once in awhile, but he doesn't want
us to. He thinks they make us think of Shakes (real) too much.
I eat some carbs but very little, most of the time is protien &
veggies. I haven't had any bread for three months *& don't even miss
it. I do eat a few crackers now & then, & a few potatoes but
thats about it for the carbs. Hang in there, I don't no what he
recommends for calories either, but I no I couldn't eat them all
even if I tried.

My instructions were similar to Marilyn's but not as in depth. Eat protein first, but you can eat normal meals. 3 meals a day, no snacking.
I used to do Atkins for years and although I am comfortable with low-carb I do allow myself more carbs than I did on Atkins. Mainly because I can't hack the beef anymore and chicken for every meal gets a bit much.
My focus has shifted since the surgery in that I aim to get my protein in. Some days I'm good and some days I'm bad. I utilize low-carb products whenever I can - low-carb cereals are high in protein, as well as a lot of the low-carb breads. I focus my attention that way and let the carbs fall where they may. Generally I'm getting right around 40 a day.
HOWEVER, like I said, I didn't have detailed instructions, and I *am* a slow loser, as well.
