Rob Update

Hello Marchers, This is Rob's first full week on the regular hospital floor and he is doing very well. He is responding well to the increased physical therapy. He still cannot speak. Today they put a scope down his throat to look at his vocal cords. They are fine - just very swollen. So we have to be patient for a while longer before he can talk to us. The big concern now is the bed sore on his back. It is quite painful and will require plastic surgery. It is unfortunate Rob has to deal with this now that he is finally showing improvement. We are hoping to move him closer to home as soon as possible but it will probably have to wait until after the plastic surgery. This tries one's patience!!! I look forward to seeing the week's improvements for myself when I visit Rob this weekend. Kat

Kat - I am so happy to hear that Rob is still improving. What a bummer about the bedsore though. I wonder - is he able to get up and move around much at all? Is he now able to keep the pressure off of it? Here's to hearing his voice - I'm sure it will be a sweet sound (if not raspy) when it happens! Dina

Kat - thanks so much for the update. I check the March board every day to see if there's anything new on Rob. I know he's still on all our minds and in our hearts. Glad to hear he's in a regular ward and making progress. This has been a long hard fought battle for all of you and it's no wonder everyone's patience is tried - but at least you can all see the end of this long tunnel now - I guess you are holding fast to that. We can't wait for the day when Rob himself gets on here to greet us all. In the meantime, we really appreciate you keeping us up to date. Hang in there and I'll continue to send healing thoughts Rob's way. Gail

How nice to see a smiley face next to an update message about Rob. My business partner's mom is in the hospital with a perforated bowel and just had a resection (she had a blockage unrelated to WLS, as not a candidate for that, then surgery, then this disaster). They've followed your ordeal through me and it is ironic that they are now making use of the knowledge and detail that you have shared to help their own family. My thanks for being so open about all this -- it did help them to deal with the problem. She is expected to recover but, as with Rob, it is slow and fraught with setbacks. Gano

Hi, Kat! Thanks for the update. Rob has really been on my mind this week. I'm so glad to hear that he is still improving. I'm sorry he faces yet another surgery, but it sounds like his feet are well planted on the road to recovery. I hate it that he is still dealing with pain though. I know you will be glad to get him closer to home--I know he is sick of hospitals by now and just wants to go home. Give him my love and good wishes please! Hang in there, all of you! Joy
