Well it has taken awhile but I finally decided to join Curves. Let me say it is great!!! I want to thank all of you that have made comments7Curves it helped me decide where to go. The only thing is I want to lose fat and gain muscle but muscle weighs more. Call me crazy but I like seeing the scale go down. Another thing please someone help me. I have been getting that dizzy lightheaded feeling as a few others. I drink enough. Maybe I'm not eating enough. When I stand I feel really funny sometimes. Anyway thank you all. Stacey 337/261/160

I joined today too! I know I will love it-- I just worry about getting away from work while they are still open! But I'm going to give it a real try! Joy

Hi! I started Curves when I was 3 weeks out and started a plateau that lasted 2 - 3 weeks. I just want to encourage you to be patient as your muscles build (which you correctly stated will add weight). I'm finding that I'm losing about 5 lbs. per week once my plateau quit. Good luck and have fun! Karel

I got dizzy at the gym for the first time last night - I've done 45 minute step workouts at my theoretical max heart rate and not gotten dizzy, so I'm not sure what it was... I just sat and drink some water until it passed. If your condition becomes more serious, talk to you doctor about it. Take your measurements. You're right that when you trade fat for muscle, your weight might not change like you'd want -- but your measurements sure will. Also, if you don't want to build muscle but rather burn calories and tone, use moderate weights. Good luck, Jen

That is so great that you are going to go to Curves. I did the same thing about a year ago - and have since switched to my local gym. Don't get frustrated about the gaining muscles - it is less in inches - and also increases your metabolism. The way I look at is once my body gets used to working out, then it will start to drop again. I've been on a 2 week plateau - and finally started dropping again in the last 2 days. Very frustrating yes, but we just have to keep those positive thoughts going on in our heads - that we are doing the right things for ourselves to get a healthy life!!! YIpee! Congrats to you. Lean muscle! Burns more calories and you'll be so tone! You go girl! Leah Begin/Current/Goal 302/259/150ish
