I'm two months out with a loss of 54 pounds. What I want to know is; when do you feel it is okay to start exercising? I don't mean walking, I mean sit ups, stair climber, things like that. Any input? My flab is falling to my knees and I need to get on a regimen..... Kellie the Bar Keep

I think that is different for each surgeon. My doc says it depends upon where you start. If you started over 300, then the exercise should be centered around core muscle strengthening. Make sure you look for a place that has a knowledgable trainer. Some places don't monitor the participants too well, and you could get yourself into trouble. I'm 2 months out and was told I can start, with the above caviats (I started over 300). mgm -45

I started at Curves for Women when I was 3 weeks out. I walk at least 30 minutes each days and want to go swimming which I have clearance to do. I'm still limited in lifting no more than 25 lbs. but I figure that's why God gave us men! Happy losing! Karel

I was cleared to do whatever I wanted at 8 weeks. I havent been doing what I should but I started again today and vow to be in the gym 4 times a week. Good luck to you. We can do it. LaDonna -63

I'm 30 and I started at 266. My doc cleared me for anything I wanted at my 6 wk follow up. I have been doing cardio since then, exclusively... step aerobics and treadmill. I have an appointment tonight with a personal trainer to get myself a lifting regimen. Nothing too drastic but I need to tone. good luck! Jen 266/218.5/?

Kellie, I would definetly check with your Dr. It seems they are as veried about the excercise as the food issue. I know my Dr. said that I could do weight lifting as long as it did not include any over the head pull downs that would stretch the abdomen area. I also cannot do yoga yet or pilates. He also said no crunches or sit ups ever again as it puts pressure on the abdomen area and your stamples on the pouch and stomach. Leslie
