PROBLEM WITH MY TYHRIODS

MY PCA DR. CALLED ME THIS EVENING , AFTER RECIVING SOME TESTING SHE HAD MADE LAST WEEKS, AND MY THYRIODS LEVEL WENT UP EVEN MIRE , NOW ABOVE 19 , BEFORE THAT WAS ABOVE 15. HE GOT UP MY SYNTRIOD PILLS TO .200 MG. I'M WORRIED I'M NOT GOING TO LOSSE WIEGHT IF THIS DOES'NT GET FIX. I HAD BEEN IN MY SINTRIOD PILLS FOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS BUT NOW IT'S GETTING REALLY BAD. I'M WEIGHT 262 , BEFORE MY WLS I WAS 309 , MY WLS DAY WAS 295 .I'M FEELING SAD .

Losing 33 lbs is nothing to be sad about! I know it is frustrating to have your thyroid out of whack, but realize that the syntroid is to replace what your body should be making, but isn't. In the proper dose, it will not keep you from losing. If your thyroid tests show high thyroid, you're excess thyroid may be helping you lose!!! But that is not good for you long term, so your doctor is testing and adjusting your dose. It sounds like they are doing the right thing. Hang in there!!! By the way, high thyroid, makes you feel anxious, so realize that the chemical imbalance of this hormone may be contributing to your discouragement. I hope they get you on track quickly so you feel better. Joy

Yvette - Thyroid will definitely do it to you. I hope your doc is able to get you up to speed on that!!! As for the loss, it's really not as bad as you would think. You did the work to lose 14 lbs before you had surgery. Your body doesn't know the difference - it just knows you've lost weight and so in addition to the thyroid situation, you also have a set-point thing going on. You have lost 47 lbs!!! That's really actually very good considering your thyroid situation, so try not to get too depressed. Just remember that even with the thyroid problems it will continue to come off. It might be slow, but it will happen. Please keep checking back and letting us know what they do with your thyroid and how you are doing! Dina
