For those of you who had your surgery on march 23-
I had my surgery the day before you, 3/22/04, so far I am down 46lbs. I may have started out heavier than you (5'11" and 322lbs pre op weight). I was losing slowly for awhile and then increased my protein intake. That made the weight loss speed up. I was also given a tip from a friend to have a protein shake about an hour or so before bed time....to keep your metabolism up while you sleep. I usually do it an hour and 30 min before bed time.
Hope that helps !!

I had my surgery on March 22 and as of April 13 I had lost 29 pounds (and that was from 3/4, when I had my pre op). My doctor has chatised me abou****ching the scale and weighing at home, so even tho I do check periodically, the only weight that 'counts' is when I am his scales once a month.
I am going to try that protein shake before bedtime thing. I do one in the a.m. that I carry to work with me. And usually fix one when I get home about 5:30, but the bed time thing sounds like a better plan.
Hi there,
I had surgery on 3/15, starting weight was 263 & I am down 39 pounds. I don't lose for weeks and then drop a few. My surgeon isn't concerned, I sure am. I am eating much less than any other plan that I have ever been on and consuming my protein, water and exercising. I am doing all right, so I ask what is wrong?? My surgeon says not a thing!!
It is sooooooooooooo frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had mine on March 23 also. I'm down 45 lbs. I was losing slower at first and then when I upped my protein it went faster. I don't do a protein drink before bed, but I do eat some typed of protein about an hour before bed. I'd heard that it also helps you sleep better - some people have trouble sleeping because they're hungry - their bodies are asking for food. So it may be the same as keeping the metabolism up.
Well I had my surgery on 3/22 and I have lost 49lbs so far. But, I am sort of depressed about it. I know it is alot but honestly, I can not see much change in my body at all. It is very frustrating. You would think I would be down a couple sizes but I am not. I was a 3x in tops and did buy a 2x but I dont think I could go smaller in pants. I really thought by now I would have gone down a size or two. Also, I only lost 10lbs in the past month. That is really scary to me. I expected it to be more. I know I shouldn't complain because it is a loss but I would be so much happier if I felt or looked like I have lost weight. So far no one that doesn't know that I had surgery has said anything to me. Such as you look like you have lost weight etc. People that do know I had surgery do say I am looking better but I want to be thin now! lol OK I will stop whining. I guess 10lbs this month isnt horrible. Maybe next month will be better. I sure hope so.
I had mine 3/11 and am down 42lbs...For the last 6 weeks the scale has hardly budged! Finally lost 2 this week after exercising everyday! I can never get in enough protein and I definatley have to up my water intake but it just seems sooo hard... Every protein shake seems to make me dump~especially the atkins ones!! I think I maybe loosing a lil in inches but for as little as I eat I should def. be loosing some dang weight!
GRRRR!!! Oh well ~ PRESS ON!!!! WE CAN DO IT!!!
