Low Immune System

I wanted to let you know of a sickness I'm just recovering from. I have contacted Shingles on top of my head and my left eye. The contributing factor seems to be my Immune System. After looking over everything I have been taking (vitamins) I've come to the conclusion that not getting the right vitamins may have been the contributing factor. Initially, I was told to take 2 Flintstone vitamins daily for the first two weeks then proceed to only once a day. I was taking the Flintstones once per day. After contacting Shingles, I looked over the container and saw that I was not getting the correct intake of vitamins a day. This may have caused my Shingles. So let this be a warning to all; take the correct vitamins and don't forget the calcium.

Debi, I've had shingles on and off for years, and a weakened immune system can be a contributing factor. It has nothing to do with taking vitamins, but it can have a lot to do with stress though. The shingles virus is the same one as chicken pox and can lie in your system dormant for years. Then at a moment of high stress erupt into that horrible rash that burns, itches and hurts all at the same time. You should be on steroids, acyclovir (Zovrax) and a topical medication for the pain and itch. Hope you feel better soon, Va

Thanks for the warning Debi! I do frequently forget to take my vitamins, so this is a good wake up call! Dina
