Cottage cheese test unreliable....

Well, I did the cottage cheese test twice and came up with the same result....an 8 oz pouch. I was devastated. I finally decided to try the oatmeal (I think Connie mention to try tuna but I couldn't stand the thought of it....). I made it with low-carb milk so as to up the protein content of it (1 serving has 17 grams of protein when made with that milk!) Anyway, I'm starting to dump on it anyway. Oh well. But the news! The news! I ate 6.5 oz of the oatmeal. I also feel like the last large bite was too much, so I would put my pouch at 6 oz. Also the fact that I'm starting to dump right now would give me the indication that I indeed ate a little too much for this test. I haven't dumped in a long time. I think over a month. So there you have it - a 6 oz pouch instead of 8 oz. Still stinkin' HUGE but not as stinking HUGE as I thought it was originally. Oh - and if you decide to try this, I made the oatmeal very thick and I used old fashioned oats...not instant. Cottage Cheese = Oatmeal =

Dina, What size is a "good size?" for a pouch? Have you read any articles that tell you about that? Paola

Well, I'm not sure about what is a good size for a pouch, but I'm pretty sure 6 ounces this early on isn't primo. I think it depends on the size you started off with. Some people have micro pouches that hold only the size of a grape. I would guess that they might not be able to even hold an ounce 2 months out. Dina

Dina, My pouch is now at least 4 ounces so I've also had an increase in pouch size also. I'm guessing at the 4 ounces because that's about how much chicken salad I put away last night. Actually, the frightening part is that I just couldn't seem to stop eating last night. I sat down with the bowl of chicken salad and realized after quite a while that I'd eaten about twice as much as normal before I even started to feel full. I put down the chicken salad more out of fear than anything, but an hour later picked up some watermelon and put away 2 cups of that. I felt like an Eatamus Anythingamus all night. Connie

Hi Dina, Im sorry you got sick doing that stupid test! (never thought it was a good idea) My pouch is about 4oz and If I even try to eat anything over that meaning(meats) I'm huggin the can!!! If I am having soft foods only, like if I blend the tuna salad, I can have about 5oz of it. I just started craving CHOCOLATE again , and have found a delicious 2in. bar from Hershey's it is sugar free, 1 carb. and has soy crisps in it YUMMMYYY!!!(Wal-Mart) gets me through the craving! The O Hope everyone is well, Hugz Mary

Hey Mary - while they are wonderful, be careful about not having too much of the sugar free chocolate - they will cause the runs. I typically have 1-2 of the tiny size pieces every 2 days and it's been helping me to stay regular. My favorite is the SF Reses PB cups. mgm

Yeah, what Marla said. I know some people are great with that stuff, but it gives me the Hershey Squirts before the surgery, so I am certainly going to wait awhile before I try it now! LOL! I think if I have it at the end of lunch or something it wouldn't be too bad... Dina

not only that but the sugar alcohols can cause weight loss stalls. I try to be really careful about the sugar alcohol...but darn, that stuff is so good. Wendy -42

Yeah - that's what happened to me with Chinese food. I had chicken broccoli, and although I reasoned the broccoli gets compacted, I still was eating way too much. It scared me. I haven't tried watermelon yet though. I can't wait since it's my favorite fruit! Dina
