Topic: Christianity and surgery!!!
Hey everybody,
I am kinda new to the community and am planning to have surgery in the near future. I was overwhelmed with questions and challenges from an elder (who have never been obese) about surgery. I love her and trust he a lot, but she really made me question my decision. Do you have any insight about surgery and Christianity or whether or not having surgery says that you do not trust God? Please respond and do have a great day.
Topic: RE: Just over a week after surgery .... need advice
Hi,
I just had my lapband surgery on the 4th, so this is 14 days out. I just now get to start pureed food, and have been wondering, as you have, if I was taking too much full liquids. I have finished a full 11 oz protien shake without feeling too full, wondering if something is not right. Guess I will find out more today, when I have foods with a little more substance to them.
I don't have an appointment with my do****il March 4, a full month after my surgery, so I won't know more until then. I'll be interested to hear what your doc has to say about the amount of food you should have.

I'm getting ready as well!! I can't believe it's almost here!! I'm spending the next three days cleaning my house from top to bottom because I'm not going to be able to do that for a while. Hubby is taking 2 weeks off of work, but I'm sure the house will be a disaster by the time he goes back to work! LOL
Almost there Sandi!! WOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I know a doc wont give you info about other patients but maybe the doc will pass him your info if you ask him to. Doesnt hurt to ask.
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I should correct that I am on pureed food this week not soft food. I am following the diet plan that was given to me but the problem is that I think I'm just eating too much. Hopefully they will fix the problem when I see them on Thursday. But I did read that they are not concerned about loosing weight at this stage and I just wondered if anyone else had the same thing happen to them as it sounds to me that everyone continues to loose all along. Just wondering how everyone else is doing during this stage.

It truly sounds like your band needs adjusted which is normal. Surgeons are not going to get the perfect fit the first time. These first couple of weeks are for your stomach and stitches to heal.
I had surgery on the 7th also but I got the gastric sleeve. I was originally going to get the lap band and therefore researched it throughally. I am surprised that you said you are already eating soft foods. What has your doctor or nutritionist told you about post-op diet? I believe it is pretty similar to the sleeve post op diet. The first 2 days are clear iquids only. Then a week of full liquids, which are protien drinks, broth, pudding jello ect. The 2nd week, which is this week, should be puree food. Food that is similar in texture to baby food. The 3rd week will be soft foods and the 4th week is regular foods.
Since you can eat soft foods so soon again makes me think your band is not tight enough.
Keep me informed
Christine
