Topic: RE: In need of a REVISION
Lee, Before I had surgery, exercise totally eluded me. It was too painful, I was too tired, not motivated etc. Since I HAD TO lose weight before the surgery, I knew I had to do something AND any movement was better than no movement at all. Here's what I did: I always found time to watch TV. I told myself that if I was going to watch TV that the only way I could do it was when the commercials came on I had to get up and dance. The first 60 second commercial about did me in. But over time, it became fun and I found that I could dance (any type of movement OK, just get moving) longer and longer till I was doing it thru the whole show. When my niece came to visit that summer, she and I both danced during the commercials. We were doing Weigh****chers together at the time and she loved the dancing part. She lost 10 lbs that month. Do you have a Curves close by you? They allow you to sign up for a month by month membership (at least at ours). It only takes 30 minutes and is an easy exercise program with lots of healthy benefits. I really l like Curves. Is there some form of exercise that apeals to you? Do you like to swim, walk, ride a bike, work out????? Right after surgery, my surgeon would only allow walking. So each day we drove to the mall and walked laps. After I got my laps in then I could go into the stores not before. Now I walk the dog to the local park most days. ON the weekends we always seem to go somewhere that we can walk (mall, zoo, science center, botanical gardens etc.). I have a really good stationery exercise bike that I enjoy riding too. Thanks for the info on the weight loss. Are you eating the quantity of food (point wise) that they recommend? Weigh****chers has always had a good/sound program. I'm familar with Dottie's site. I will have to check it out again. Mary

Leeanne, Since you are still losing, would you mind sharing what a typical day of eating is for you. I understand your concern about exercise and losing more weight, but remember you need to build your muscles up so that you don't lose muscle mass as you lose weight. Not exercising can impact your heart as it is muscle. How about doing some strength training/working with weights???? That might be a good solution to getting exercise in and to build the muscles. WHat a fun idea 1) Did you ever drink protein shakes? *No I hate them with a passion, its like drinking liquid chalk! 2) If so, do you still drink them? *Nope, try my best to aviod them 3) Have you lost, gained or maintained in the last 6 months? *Still losing, actually I wi**** would stop. 4) Do you get regular exercise? not like I should, but fairly regularly *Nope, my doctors make me promise to, but I dont have the motovation, and Im scared that I will lose more if I do.. 5) Do you get hungry now? *Yes, all the time, but I make healthier choices these days. 6) Do you still think as a recipient of weight loss surgery? *Yes every day. I think that is what helps me stay on track, by remembering where I have been to get where I am today.

1) Did you ever drink protein shakes? During my 2 month liquid phase and also as a pre-op. 2) If so, do you still drink them? Occassionally. However I do eat a protein bar each day instead. 3) Have you lost, gained or maintained in the last 6 months? (You don't have to state any amounts gained or lost) Maintained. Go up and down 4 lbs. 4) Do you get regular exercise? Absolutely ... swimming, walking, Curves 5) Do you get hungry now? YES !!!!! 6) Do you still think as a recipient of weight loss surgery? Not sure what you mean by the question ... WLS is still on my mind a lot and my tummy sure can remind me too if I eat too much or too fast. My niece just had the surgery too, so I spend a lot of time on the phone with her discussing how she is feeling etc. So WLS is still a prominent focus in my life that way. Don't participate in any local support groups here tho, never quite made the connection with them like I had in CA.

Carrie, if you order it, order it from QVC. They allow you to return it for any reason within 30 days. If you order directly from the manufacturer, they are NOT returnable. It definitely smoothed out the bulges for me. No, they are not totally gone, but for the evening (formal) dress I purchase it made a HUGE difference in the look. I'm very pleased with the product.

Exercising in the pool is great fun, never a chore to me. Hal works from home, so today on his lunch hour we both got in the pool and exercised. So glad we decided to heat the pool. Will definitely expand our swimming season. Won't be able to afford it in the winter, but this is great.
