I'm also getting the RNY and hope and pray there are no setbacks with the pre-op.  I don't expect there to be anything holding back the surgery but you never know.  I just feel so excited and prepared for it and am so ready (I think!).  I ordered my blender bottles last night and I'm picking up my Unjury protein powder on Tuesday when I meet with my NUT.  I have some sample menus for the pureed diet and am blenderizing pork, tuna, carrots, etc. and am freezing them in ice cube trays and separating them in freezer bags so when it's time to eat I can pull out my portion w/o having to worry about whipping something up and cleaning the blender 42 times a day.  I also got a really cute paisley notebook that will fit in my purse so I can keep a food diary to track mostly liquids at first and 'real' food later on.  I pulled out my packet last night and was re-reading it for what seems like the 500th time!!  I can't believe it's almost time for me to start my new life.   I know it's going to be a bumpy road but knowing I will be fit enough to chase my little girl around is worth every bump.  Hip Hip HOORAY!!!

Thank you for adding me to the January list, glad to be a part of it.

I think it is hard not to have a  "Last Supper," but I am being mindful of my changes and trying to hold onto portion control.  Avoiding eating and drinking at the same time.  Eating protein first.  Chewing slowly.

I'm trying to look at this as not so much "Last," as going on hiatus from foods I love.  We'll see if they love me back later.  I made chili last night.  I know it will be a quite a while before I need to call in Five Alarms, if ever again.  (Not to pat myself on the shoulder, but I can't see trying to each sushi with wasabi and ginger pickle three weeks from now...Yeah, someone did -- not with good results.)

Today, my frozen duck is coming out of the freezer.  (Trick is to parboil the bird with a heavy object ot something that fills up the space in the pot to keep the duck under water while the fat dissolves out, then roast slowly to get a lower fat dish with a nice crispy skin. -- Take a task fo the skin and leave the rest for my DH.)   Four  to six ozs eaten slowly with a salad of tossed greens and low carb dressing.  Finish off with a nice baked apple cooked with Splenda.

The biggest thing for me is to keep busy away from the kitchen so that I avoid the temptation to graze.

I'll be one more link in our metaphysical hand holding chain on Tuesday morning -- 49 and 1/2 hours from now!  Wow -- where is the time going -- back to laudry folding and other housework.

I don't have a special diet.  Just instrucitons to continue doing what I have been doing with portion control, exercise, etc. and stop eating a Midnight Monday.

I haven't been this jumpy since before my wedding and, like then, I suddenly don't have a strong desire for food.  LOL!

I am working on drinking because I was a little dehydrated when they drew my final blood work for cross and type, so the nurse made a point of telling me to be sure to get in 64 oz per day until surgery.

Maybe watching the video of the surgery was not the swiftested idea I ever had.  I feel better knowing what they are going to do, but now I can't get the images out of my head.  That, and I feel like the part of my stomach I will leave behind is feeling abandoned.  (It's a good thing they are not doing my psych eval this morning.)

What a fantastic idea - the one about putting the protein powders and such near the blender.

My surgery is also Tuesday and I'm sick of the liquid diet (Optifast) are you?

Anyway, good luck to you and don't worry about the house....it'll still be there when you are better.....or when others figure out to lend a hand (LOL).

Our surgeries are on the same day! I can't wait to get the surgery over with and to get on with my new life. I've had a few struggles with food lately- the "last supper syndrome". I've enjoyed some things that I know I won't be able to have post-op. I think that's normal, so don't worry.

Since I made the decision to have this surgery, I have not had a single doubt that this is the right thing for me. Sure, I'm anxious and nervous about the "unkowns" living as a post RNY patient. However I still feel in my heart that this is right for me and I look forward to the changes.

Good luck, and be sure to post here so that we can support each other through the journey.

Good Morning Lynn,

Everyone keeps asking me if I am getting nervous and I can honestly say no... But, ask  me next week and it may be a different story. I start my liquid diet on Monday as well... Not really looking forward to that, that much.... but you got to do what you got to do.

Feel free to add me to your friends list.... Take care and good luck.

Have a great day,
Charlotte

Hi Amanda, and welcome to the Jan. board! You're right about how important it is to stay positive. We all know what MAY happen, but we don't want to dwell on those remote possibilitis. We have to go into this knowing in our hearts that we are making the right decision and that we will be OK. Stay busy, and get your post-op supplies in order!  Good Luck on your surgery. I added you to the Jan. Surgery list.

Welcome to the board! I am a day ahead of you, so I can understand your anxiety! I'm not working the day before because I want to do some last minute things like get my hair cut (so it doesn't drive me crazy), color my hair, go to the post office to stop my mail... I have a list!  I have all of my protein, vitamins, and post-op foods already.

I've been staying clear of the main board and the RNY board on OH for a few days, because a lot of the posts were making me more nervous. I know what kinds of complications and problems MAY occur post-op, but I don't need to keep reading about them right now. I'm going into this with the thought that everything will be great and that I will be feeling well quickly.

Good Luck, and keep us posted on how you're doing.

Welocme!  I'm nervous and excited as well- just trying to stay busy. I think that I have just about everything done, other than the last few loads of laundry that I don't want sitting around until I'm able to get dowstairs again to do it. I am so ready to get this done and to get on with my life.
You're in my thoughts and prayers as well- we're all here to support each other.
