Hi Guys!
just wanted to update you on my plastics.
I had my three week check up today. The doc FINALLY removed the last drain (I had two)... this one was a super annoyance. Think of the after effects of a muscle cramp... for weeks on end lol! All because the stitch that holds the drain in place gotten tighter throughout my activities.
So that drain was removed and the stitches in my belly button as well.
I do have a slight issue with healing where the vertical and horizontal incisions meet. There is slight lack of blood flow in that area, but my doctor, Dr. John Burnett, didn't seem alarmed at all. So I get to change the gauze daily and hopefully it'll heal safely and quickly
I have our county fair next week also... so to be safe, I also asked to go back on antibiotics. That way I can hopefully stay infection free while being at the fair!
I do admit... I was completely bummed when I looked in the mirror after the steristrips came off. I have issues on my sides and back from all the skin before. My doc did his absolute best... and to be honest I'm ecstatic I no longer have to worry about rashes anymore. I just was upset that here I was doing all the "right" things and the incision wasn't healing right... it just wasn't fair. Needless to say the ride home from the doctor was terrible (Tommy and I were planning to go to lunch and we didn't, no speaking, he just didn't understand why I was upset) Now that I'm home and have had a couple hours for it all to sink in I feel terrible for being upset. I mean the doc couldn't do miracle work with what he had to work with... he did his best and I am no longer in such physical pain from the rashes. Its like I was being ungrateful for this wonderful life improving procedure...
But... I'm sure I'll get over my low feelings once the healing improves.... its just discouraging I suppose.
Okies... gotta run. Ironically I have a support group tonight and plan to get their input also....
Thanks ladies and gents! I'll try for photos soon!
Jaci
Jaci I am so proud of you.....You are truely and INSPIRATION to ME......You can be discouraged for all you have been through. You are always there to support others and we are here to support you. I bet Tommy understands. There is plenty of times to go out and eat! He is a good guy and you are a great girl. ometimes we just expect results quicker than they can actually happen! Keep your chin up as I am sure it will get better, Hugs, Chris
Jaci...try not to get too bummed out (don't forget...I may need you to tell me this in a few weeks, too!). You're body will be healed when it's ready...before you know it. Almost everyone I know who didn't get a circumferential lift has issues with side and back skin after getting the tummy tuck done, because it makes those parts more noticeable since the front looks better. Be glad the front's gone and you no longer have rashes. Once you're finally healed, you can wear a light undergarment to help hold those parts in. I know I'll still have to because even though I'm having a full lower body lift, they can't get the blob of skin on my back right below my bra. It'll have to wait until next year when I get my arms and breasts done. Let us see some pics when you get them taken. Cheer up, girl. You're too good of a person to let it get you done for long.
Karla
It takes a while to get healed up and I agree with what Karla said later you can go back and get the lbl to remove anything on he back and tighten the muscles, at least now you don't have all the skin in front and your shape I am sure is much better for clothes etc....and no more rashes all that stuff.
Have a great day and remember you are beautiful
