I'm sore...but I'm home!

Hi all. I've been gone a couple of days because I've been in the hospital. So here the story goes: On Tuesday, after my nightshift at work I came home and ate some cereal. My belly felt weird, but I figured it would go away so I laid down. Well I got up around 12:30 pm in horrible pain! I thought I just had to go to the bathroom, but afterwards....no relief. So I laid back down and the pain was even worse laying on my back...i started to get scared. I didn't wanna go the local hospital (the one I work at) because quite frankly...they scare me. So I decided to drive all the way to DE (over an hour) to the hospital my doc is at and where I originally had surgery. Got there safely even though I got reamed for driving in pain, but I got there. So, I waited in the ER for 5 and 1/2 hrs!!! I was trying to be patient because it was very busy, but I had enough...made a little noise, got in touch with the right people and I was on my way to CT scan. See...I used to work there, but I was trying to be like everyone else in there...waiting. But then I realized I was the only person left in the waiting room from 5 hrs. ago! So I had to call the doc, talk to a resident I know and it got handled. So anyway...I was drugged up so much the rest of Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, and I was in so much pain that they took me right to the OR for a diagnostic laparoscopy. They found I had lots of scar tissue. I had adhesions on my liver and other spots on my bowel, but one piece of scar tissue was strangling my small bowel. That's where the pain was coming from. So they took care of everything, and I could immediately tell after surgery that the pain was gone. I was supposed to be in Vegas today. Soooo glad it happened while I was still home and not in Vegas. But I feel so much better. Just sore, but I'm sure I'll get over it. So, I'm basically just trying to chill out for a bit. But I'm going to lay back down for a bit. I'll post again soon. April

April...I'm glad you're okay, but sorry you had a problem and had to have surgery. That's the pits! Take care of yourself and get well soon. Karla

Hi April - I don't usually post, just lurk, but I just got off the phone with my surgeon who told me that I have a partial SBO due to adhesions and will need laproscopic surgery. She said it wasn't anything immediate, but I'm wondering if , looking back, did you have any symptoms leading up to the night you had such pain? I've had a few episodes of abdominal pain, but only one time did it last for several hours (which is what made me bring it up to my surgeon). I have a trip planned with my daughter to Disney in three weeks. My surgeon said we can take care of it after I get back. I'm really hoping this can hold out until afterwards - she's fourand a half, and we are sooo looking forward to this trip (I'm a single mom and we've never taken a vacation like this before). Just curious if you had any warning signs, and how your recovery is going. Take care of yourself! Eileen
