I met with Dr. Ghaphery on March 25. He was very nice and I did not have to wait long to see him.
June 1 I met with Dr. Ghaphery at Wheeling Hospital to have my drain removed and he was great. He had just come out of surgery and was in a great mood. He was very friendly, answered all my questions, and made a great impression on me. We even had a laugh which surprised both doctors that I could smile after having my drain removed. I would definately recommend him to others!!!!!

I haven't seen Dr. Ghaphery yet for WLS, however, he did a lumpectomy on me a couple years ago. He's pretty good looking, lol *smile* but very professional.

Well, best I can say is, good thing I researched and knew what was going on. I was in with him about 5 minutes. If you're going to see Dr. Ghaphery make sure you know what your getting into because he doesn't go into it much at all.

Dr. Ghaphery is very nice and straight forward about having this surgery. He laid out all the risks for me making sure that I knew that this was a serious surgery and that the decision to have it should be taken very seriously. His office staff was very nice and helplful.

The doctor was very friendly and up front about all the possibilities. He seems very capable and confident. He said he has only done 50 and they have all been laparoscopically. Office staff seemed nice but gave conflicting information. His office assistant almost cost me this surgery date as she FORGOT to tell me "clear liquids only" 5 days pre-op and the only way I found out was a couple of local patients. I ended up in ER 3 days after i came home from the surgery and the doctor was great. He had very little sleep that night because of me and when he showed up he was very nice and said "that's what I'm here for". Very easy to deal with. Made his rounds every day while i was in. I had a scare 3 weeks later at home and he called me immediately when I left a message. I'm very happy with his demeanor, professionalism, attitude etc. I would have him do mine again in a minute.

<p align="left">Dr. David Ghaphery did a wonderful job! He said I came through surgery like a CHAMP! He was very professional yet compassionate. He encourages his patients to exercise and eat right after surgery. He makes certain that you are aware of the fact that WLS is a tool, it is not a cure all. I love his honesty and his enthusiasm. He has been a wonderful surgeon. I would not have a problem putting my life in his hands again!

My daughter's surgery was his 5th or 6th and she has lost 85 lbs in the first year. Still has about 20 to go. Dr Gaphery is very concerned about every patient and their success. He shows compassion and understanding to all he meets who have an interest. I need to loose about 180 lbs. he is very upfront about the entire procedure and lets you know what he expects from you before and after the surgery. They have also started a support group that meets monthly. I have gone to a couple of those meetings with my daughter. I think he is one of the tops right here in our little city of Wheeling WV. He is very precise about his technique and procedures. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful. Don't feel I could find anyone any better. Please bare in mind, I haven't had the surgery and can't even get a referral to see him from my HMO.

Dr. Ghaphery spoke at the Wheeling Hospital Gastric Bypass Support group meeting several months ago. There were a few of his post op patients there. They gave the highest praise when they said that he "GOT" how they felt and their need for the surgery. My experience has always been that surgeons were direct and cut to the point. He is like that but also comes across with a warm sense of humor as he related the first gastric bypass he had done. It was a very telling story. With the patient there ( having gave her permission for hin to talk about her surgery) he related the trials and tribulations of the surgery from HIS vantage point. He did my daughters surgery and I have every confidence in him. His small staff of 2 (that I have met) are thorough and very much your advocate.

I first met Dr Ghaphery at a Support Meeting for gastric bypass patients at Wheeling Hospital. My daughter had him perform surgery and was pleased with him and his staff. Between the Support Meetings and my daughters gastric bypass, I was pretty informed of the procedure and really had few questions for my appointment. My first appointment was short and sweet. I have submitted my insurance info, his office has set a surgery tentative date and we are waiting for insurance to approve. THEN all the surgeons in this area, including Dr. Ghaphery, go on a 30 leave over Insurance Malpractice Premium issues. We are all on wait and see at the moment.

I went for my meeting with Dr. Ghaphery. He is very honest and kind. Not at all rushed! I was in his room with him for 20 minutes or so and had many questions. He awnsered all of them and never made me feel dumb or like I was wasting his time! He was not late for our meeting! He was very clear that this is a major surgery and wanted to be sure that I understoof the eating after, how it will all change. He examined my tummy and said, "Don't take this the wrong way but ny West Virginia standards, you are skinny. My patients are all at least 50 pounds heavier than you"....LMAO!! So far,I have NO complaints about him. His staff seems knowledgable and friendly! TaraLynn, in particular is very nice and friendly. She remembered who I was! That is always nice! I like Dr. G's honesty, alot!! He is great and I feel very confident about him!
