Surgeon TestimonialJames KorenThere are'nt enough words to describe the care that Dr Koren provides to his patients. We see it every time we go to Support Group Meetings,He has always been in attendance. If that is'nt dedication, I don't know what is......This also applies to the Bariatric Coordinator, Mandy who has always been there for me,to answer any questions I may have had regarding any issues with my surgery.
Dr Koren's personality & mannerism speaks for itself, his bedside & office manner has always been professional, caring & always competent.
Dr Koren's office staff are always polite, friendly & caring.
I will always be grateful to all who helped me with my personal battle to achieve a healthy lifestyle,it is truly a life change for the better.
Dr Koren is truly the "People's Doctor",He has changed so many lives................
For this I will always be grateful...............
Thank You Always!!!!

Sept 5th---My 1st work out !! 1 day ago
Well, I had my 1st work-out with my Trainer last night, she is great to work with. Very considerate of my needs & she does'nt try to over work me. They are all very considerate of my personal well being & always give me encouraging words in regards to my achievements in weight loss & in my journey to fitness & health. So far things are going well, I know I will not always like the training, I have to work my way up to many of the exercises, some I am not able to do right now,due to physical - UN-fitness so to speak. BUT,,, that does'nt mean I won't ever do it. My Trainer does'nt want to hear the words " I can't " in my vocabulary.......... This has been a very eye - opening, & inspiring moment.... With words to live by !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keeping the faith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

August 25th,Reaching for more goals!!!!! on August 25, 2008 4:42 pm
Well, I am now reaching for more goals, than ever before. I joined a Gym, & I have been going rather faithfully. I am trying to get back into the pattern of working out. Right now it's Cardio, & soon I will be trying the Weight -training. I changed my work-out facility because I was tired of the same thing, just plain bored. This is more challenging for me. I am taking my goals as they come, for every 10 pounds I lose to me that's a win. The inches are a big thing too. I had'nt measured for a while & when I did, I was very surprised, this week I will be 16 weeks out from surgery. I don't know where the time went. I consider my progress good, & it will keep getting better. The more active I become the weight tends to come off a little easier, now don't that make sense. I guess that is the answer to the stalls that I have been having. All in all I am doing what I am supposed to do,my hair is beginning to thin down a little, but that's okay. I knew that it could happen & was ready for the outcome. It will recover, too. I wish everyone a good week, I will sign off for now.Blessings, one & all.

AUGUST 17TH ----- 50 DOWN --- FINALLY!!! on August 17, 2008 4:53 am
WELL, IT'S BEEN A BIT OF A ROLLER COASTER RIDE THESE PAST FEW DAYS. MY WEIGHT COULD'NT MAKE UP IT'S MIND WHETHER,IT WANTED TO HIT THE 50 LB GOAL,I SET FOR IT OR NOT. NOT TO MENTION A FEW WEEKS LATER THAN ANTICIPATED. YET, IT SEEMS TO HAVE SETTLED DOWN TO THAT CONCLUSION,FINALLY!!!!!! I AM ALSO LOOKING INTO JOINING A NEWLY OPENED GYM, THAT OFFERS MORE THAN JUST CIRCUIT EQUIPMENT,& THE FACT THAT I WAS NOT FEELING VERY MUCH CHALLENGED THERE ANYMORE.I WAS THERE FOR 5 YEARS,LOST SOME WEIGHT THERE ONCE BEFORE,THAN IT STARTED TO COME BACK,NEEDLESS TO SAY. I HAVE'NT BEEN FEELING MUCH LIKE EATING THESE DAYS,YET THE WEIGHT DOES'NT SEEM TO WANT TO MOVE TO MUCH. I AM READING THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING MUCH MORE OFTEN,THE BODY TAKES A NAP FOR A WHILE,FOR SOME REASON. I THINK IT'S TIME TO WAKE IT UP AGAIN...... ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!!I HOPE EVERYBODY IS DOING WELL, I AM HEARING FROM MANY OF MY OH FRIENDS,THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD WISHES, & MANY WISHES BACK TO YOU.TAKE CARE!!!!!!!!

It's the small things that count!!!!! on August 4, 2008 9:43 am
WoW!!!!!
It has been a little over the 3 month mark & I am seeing so many changes in my life. My BMI has gone down 13 points, which is an improvement in itself, along with the weight, & the clothing sizes. That is a story in itself, I have various sizes on hand right now because some sizes fit sometimes & sometimes they don't, of course it could be the style of the clothes, too. That's fine with me, I am taking it all in stride right now, & just rolling with the flow of things for now.

July 31 2008- 3 months since surgery!!! on July 31, 2008 5:09 am
Well, it's hard to believe that it has been 3 months since my surgery, I am feeling much better, I am working out, getting all my walking in. Abiding the rules of my diet, not to say that it has all been easy, because it is'nt. There are times I would love to have what others have on their plates, but that is the committment I have made to this lifestyle. I said I was ready for all the changes that would take place in my life, before, during & after surgery. There have been some rough patches in this journey, but with the helpful advice & support of my Dr. and the great support system behind me I will pull through all the obstacles that I have faced & those that lie ahead of me. As of today I am 3 lbs short of my first goal that I have set, I have lost 47 lbs --- my goal was 50lbs by 3 months -- I know in a matter of time this will come to be!!!!This to me is truly a blessing. Keeping the faith!!!!!!

My Story Hi,I am actually just starting my journey to finally be healthy,& live an active life, that I have tried for years to achieve.I have tried almost every diet and exercise regimen there is,but eventually it does'nt reach the goal I've tried for.I have'nt given up yet,I usually keep on going even if there is a hint of quitting, but,I will not let that win over my success.
I need to try harder until it kicks in,THE WILLPOWER TO ACHIEVE.and I will.
Thank you to all the people who contribute their feelings and beliefs. This is of great help to me and others.I am glad and grateful you are there for all of us. I have been learning through others,& I too, hope to help others in their journey to better health. Best wishes to all who try.God Bless.
