Hi Melissa. I went to the Alvarado Hospital seminar last night and I am sold! I also have Aetna PPO and was wondering if there is anything you'd like to share about insurance. How are you feeling? Is the surgery outcome everything you had hoped. What are the pitfalls?

Melissa, I just came across you on this site and hope your surgery went well. Actually, you are probably still in San Diego. I am thinking about having an RNY but want to do have it done laparoscopically, so am checking into doctors outside of Seattle. I think we may have the same insurance, mine is Aetna U.S. Healthcare, but I'm not sure if it's PPO or HMO. How soon were you approved by them? Was it very complicated having to go out of state for the surgery and/or to get insurance approval? It sounds like Aetna is pretty good for this kind of surgery. Anyway, I hope you are up and around soon and wish you a speedy recovery. And congratulations! Laura
